Wizard’s Castle Slots

Wizard's-CastleWizard’s Castle is one of the older slot machines from BetSoft, or at least that’s what the design style seems to suggest. It’s not a new slot machine, but its theme is one that people often appreciate, dealing with magic, wizards, potions and the four elements. The wizard’s castle is the host for this little adventure, and you can see him inside, reading from a big book of spells, while there is plenty of action on the reels placed on his right.

Despite its age, the game seems to be fairly profitable and it gives you access not only to a $10,000 jackpot, but to some interesting bonus games, scatters and wilds as well. The layout is a bit retro, with only 9 paylines offered on 5 reels.

Features of Wizard’s Castle

The Wizard’s Castle offer is a fairly typical one for a game from an earlier period of online slot history, giving you bonus games, wilds and scatters, but not going all the way and ignoring things like free spins or multipliers.

The wild symbol is not too advanced in the way it works. You simply get a symbol that can substitute for regular icons, while ignoring bonus or scatter symbols. What it’s really great at, is awarding the slot’s biggest prizes, including the top jackpot and its 2,000x line wager multiplier. Even though the wild doesn’t behave in any special way, it’s still one of the best ways to improve the game’s profitability in the long run, so it’s a good thing they’ve included it.

The scatter symbol is another special element in modern slot machines. While other symbols need to be on the same payline and on consecutive positions starting from the left, the scatters can be anywhere and they still give you their prizes. In this case, that means a payout of up to 500x, when three to five crystal balls are anywhere on the reels.

There is a bonus game as well here, a nice treat that involves the four symbols with the elements (Fire, Water, Air and Earth). You need all four on the same payline though, so I’m not sure how often this one will be triggered.

Betting options and jackpots

Like many other 9 line slots do, this one can also take its wagers as high as $45 per spin. That means using up to $5 for each active payline, where the 5 coins get $1 each in value. You have the option to select fewer lines, coins or using smaller denominations (minimum is $0.02).

You can get paid with an amount equivalent to 2,000 times the line bet, meaning that a $10,000 top prize is available inside. All the other prizes give you $5,000 or less. These amounts are available to players that use $5 bets per line.

Design and symbols

The wizard theme is evident as soon as you look at the slot, but the actual quality of design is not among the game’s strong suits. It seems to be an older title, one of the few less than perfect looking slots in BetSoft’s collection. It’s in bad need for an upgrade, but in the meantime you can use it as a trip down memory lane, to how games used to look a decade or two ago. The wizard sits on the left side with a spell book opened up in front of him, with the reels being on the right.

Symbols: Wild Spell Book (wild, 2,000x), Scatter Crystal Globe (scatter, 500x), Fire (750x), Water (750x), Air (500x), Earth (400x), Hourglass (300x), Books (300x), Scrolls (250x) and Equipment (250x).
