Street Fighter IV Slots

Street-Fighter-IVStreet Fighter IV is one of Cryptologic’s games that is built under official license, this time the original video game being released by Capcom. One of the most popular series of the 90’s, Street Fighter is a fighting game, where the battle is between the player’s character and the one controlled by the computer. This is also the second title from this developer that is built on this video game series, though the first one was for the 2nd game, not the 4th one.

The 5 reels found in Street Fighter IV get a total of 25 bet lines that are accessible to its players, with a $100,000 prize worthy of the wagers you have to place inside. Among the features that you get to take advantage of, you will notice the bonus feature, the scatter, a wild and free spins.

Features of Street Fighter IV

It’s going to give you enough features to keep you content, though for the most part they’re not that special and they could’ve used a bit more work. The wild symbol is one example, while the logo scatter is another. A bonus feature is present as well.

The wild symbol is usually very important in games such as these, but in Street Fighter IV it’s been reduced in importance, allowed to appear only on the 2nd and 4th reels. From those two reels, it can substitute for the various other symbols that make an appearance, without adding multipliers to them or offering any kind of extra bonus game. It seems to have been placed inside just so that it’s present, not to actually be useful, not to the extent that it is in other titles anyway.

The scattered Logo is a lot more useful, both because you can get a feature game out of it, and because you can count on it offering big prizes. The appearance of two to five Logos in any position on the reels will get you up to 200 times the wager that triggered that round.

Bonus Round with Free Games

With three Logos present during one of the rounds, you can get inside the slot’s only bonus feature. It presents you with a choice, between four characters. Each one gives you something different, during the free spins that follow the fight. The fight is between your character and another one, and your decision on the move that he should perform will decide how many free games you get. The four characters will give you more free spins (Ken), bigger multipliers (Ryu), more symbols (Chunli) and extra repeaters (Abel). Once the free games begin, you will receive extra free games for each apparition of that character symbol.

Betting options and jackpots

If you want to test the game, without risking too much, you can get away with using a $0.01 coin for each payline you want active (and you can activate a single one if you want to, instead of 25). Those that want to make some decent money from it, will get the opportunity to place bets of up to $20 for each payline, with the maximum amount allowed for a wager being $500.

The reward is bigger if you place a larger bet, since you always get a 5,000x multiple of the amount you used in your wager on a single line. Since you bet on 25 lines, it means that it’s only a 200x multiple of the total bet. Cash wise, the top prize is worth up to $100,000.

Design and symbols

The game pretty much looks like a Chinese themed slot machine, with Anime style characters visible in the abstract image placed behind the reels. The reels are placed on a brick wall background, the symbols including either fighter related images or Asian style letters when it comes to playing cards. It’s a decent looking game, but the design alone will not make you want to play it for long.

Symbols: Yin Yang (wild), Logo (scatter, 200x the triggering bet), Red Cap (5,000x), Blades and Mask (2,500x), Spikes (500x), Chinese Sign (500x), Ace (200x), King (200x), Queen (150x), Jack (150x), 10 (100x) and 9 (100x).

Is It Worth Playing?

I’ve enjoyed the free spins and the bonus feature that gives them to us, along with the promise of the $100,000 jackpot. It’s a game that feels like a right choice for someone that actually played the Street Fighter games, but most people that didn’t will find better options out there.

Street Fighter IV, the Video Game

The latest Street Fighter game from this series is the one that was used as inspiration for this slot. The 4th game with this name was launched in 2008, the developer being the same Capcom that released the other three as well. It’s the second Street Fighter game to get its own slot machine, after the one that was released in 1991.

Over 3.3 million units of this game were sold since it was launched, with a number of other related games that have the same IV number attached also getting over 1 million copies sold each. It was released on PS3, Xbox 360, Windows PC, PS4, iOS and Nintendo 3DS. Even though it was launched almost 9 years after the 3rd game, it still had a lot of fans and it was appreciated by most magazines and gaming sites when it appeared, in 2008.

The Street Fighter IV slot machine is offered through the Cryptologic platform, so if you want to play it for real or just to practice, look out for casinos that use it.
