Alice’s Wonderland Slots

Alice's-WonderlandAlice’s Wonderland is one of the slots created by IGT, and as you’ve probably guessed already, it’s based on the novel written by Lewis Carrol. One of the most popular novels of all times, read by pretty much everyone at one point or another, with characters that are memorable and unique, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland deserved to be immortalized in a slot machine as well, after being part of video games, movies and all sorts of other productions. You’re going to find inside a title with graphics that will remind you of the drawings placed in a book, a great choice in this case.

A slot with 20 paylines, Alice’s Wonderland has 5 reels and it was designed by the guys from IGT. The $37,500 might be one good reason to try it out, but so are the free games, bonus rounds, wilds and the multiple scatter symbols. Add to them a progressive jackpot, and you have the complete picture of what this game can give you.

Features of Alice’s Wonderland

The game does quite well when it comes to features, giving you no less than three scatter symbols, one wild, bonus games and free spins.

Alice’s appearance in the wild symbol, showing her as she’s holding a bottle with the words “Drink Me” on it, should come as no surprise, as she is the main character of the novel and she deserves the main role in the game as well. I’m calling the wild symbol the main actor not just because it has the power to substitute for another symbol, though that’s a very important role in a slot machine. It’s mostly because of the top jackpot that the wild can award on its own, whenever five Alice wilds take over completely a payline. Three to five wilds doing that will get you a prize, while also contributing to other combinations when they’re on their own. Obviously, a wild is not going to substitute for a scatter or bonus symbol, but it will work just fine with all the regular icons.

Rabbit Hole Bonus

The Rabbit Hole Scatter symbol is the kind of scatter where its position does matter a little, but not in the way you might think. A single Rabbit Hole symbol is enough to get this bonus game started, but it has to be present on the 3rd reel. It’s going to trigger a feature where Alice will fall down the rabbit hole, and up to the point when she lands she will be collecting prizes. Payouts go from 7x to 20x the triggering bet.

Tea Party Bonus Game

The Tea Party bonus gets activated when the second scatter symbol of the game makes an appearance, on at least three reels. The image used for it is that of the Mad Hatter, with the word Bonus written at the bottom. You pick a guest, and tea will be served to him. The quantity of tea that the guest drinks determines the payout that you walk away with. You can keep picking guests to serve tea to, until they’ve had their fill. Payouts go from 2x to 1,000x.

Pocket Watch Bonus with Free Spins

The White Rabbit scatter is the final symbol of this type that I’m going to cover, but it’s one of my favorites. Since it is a scatter symbol, the White Rabbit can appear anywhere on the reels, and the simple presence of three of them will be sufficient to get a round of free spins started, with 7 to 20 games in it, plus 3 to 5 sticky wilds.

First, you find out how many free spins you’ve won, by looking at the hand on the pocket watch and seeing where it stops. As for the sticky wilds, you will see how the rabbit jumps and lands on various symbols. These become sticky wilds and they remain in place for the duration of the free spins.

Betting options and jackpots

The line’s betting range is slightly unusual, the reason being the upper limit that is worth $3.75, while other games choose a more rounded number. With 20 lines in the game, the maximum bet gets up to $75, while the starting point is only worth $0.01.

Your reward in this game is worth about 10,000 coins, or up to $37,500. The progressive jackpot is the real prize though, with the potential of offering hundreds of thousands of dollars. The Mad Hatter symbol is the one that gets you into the bonus game that can award the progressive jackpot.

Design and symbols

Alice’s Wonderland has one of the more charming designs I’ve seen so far, in slot machines that took their inspiration from books. Pretty much all the symbols that you will see inside will look like they were drawn specifically for a children’s book, and a retro one at that. Even the playing cards look like they belong in this game, and that’s rarely the case. I’d put the graphics of the game among the main reasons why you would want to play it.

Symbols: Alice (wild,10,000 coins), Rabbit Hole (scatter, 20x the bet), White Rabbit (scatter), Mad Hatter (scatter, 1,000x the bet or progressive jackpot), Tweedledum and Tweedledee (1,500 coins), Cheshire Cat (1,000 coins), Hookah-Smoking Caterpillar (500 coins), Ace (100 coins), King (80 coins), Queen (50 coins), Jack (30 coins) and 10 (25 coins).

Is It Worth Playing?

From the life changing progressive jackpot, to the many features and bonus games included, to the wonderful graphics and the theme that so many of us can relate to, Alice’s Wonderland has a lot of pros, and very few cons. I recommend it and I’d say it’s one of the better slots that IGT has created.

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, by Lewis Carrol

The full title of this novel is “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland”, but the slot changed it somewhat. It was written by Lewis Carrol, which is the pseudonym of the writer Charles Lutwidge Dodgson. It was released in 1865 and it follows the adventure of Alice in a fantasy world, which she reaches by falling into a rabbit hole. It’s a strange world, populated by all sorts of weird creatures, which doesn’t always follow the laws of logic, and despite that both children and adults alike are fans. Some of the more well known fans of the book, when it was first released, included Oscar Wilde and Queen Victoria.

With more than 100 editions in the English language alone, and with versions translated in more than 174 languages, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland has always been in print since it was first released, without any breaks. Such a popular book has also been used as inspiration not just for multiple slot machines, but for movies, TV series, theatre and video games.

This Alice’s Wonderland slot is offered by all online casinos with IGT software, playable either in practice or in real money mode.
