Top of the Slots

Top-of-the-slotsAn IGT slot machine, Top of the Slots takes the player on a trip through the musical history of the second half of the 20th century and early 21st, from the 50’s to the 00’s. With a design that seems inspired by the jukebox, Top of the Slots has all kinds of elements on its reels that will remind you of the evolution of both music and technology. Even though most of the slot’s symbols are simply logos of the last six decades, it’s a very pleasant title overall and I’m sure you will find it as relaxing as I did.

A 20 payline slot machine, with 5 reels total, Top of the Slots is quite generous with its prizes, $100,000 being on the line inside. It also has a variety of bonus games, scatters, instant prizes and wilds, all great reasons to stick around and see how they work out.

Features of Top of the Slots

The wealth of features that are found in the game give you one extra reason to try it out for yourself. You will discover along the way that you have scatter symbols that give you both prizes and bonus games, random prizes, mini games and wild symbols.

I’ll start with the wild, for the simple reason that it is the one responsible for the top jackpot combo being formed, five wilds being needed for those 10,000 coins to become yours. When the wilds don’t appear on the same payline, they act as your usual substituting symbol that helps you form other combinations.

Another one would be the one with the Piano keys. It’s a symbol that gives you random prizes, depending on how many of them are present and on your own luck. It starts when you have at least two symbols with the Piano on the screen, which gives you 1 to 4 coins as a prize. Additional symbols will increase the value of the prize, going up to 65x for three symbols, 220x for four and 2,000x for five.

The scatter symbol’s image is that of the jukebox, with Bonus written on it. This is the classic scatter symbol that you’re used to seeing in many slots. I’m saying this because it can give you prizes and at the same time you can count on it to start up a bonus feature. A minimum of three scatters will pay you a prize when they appear, but only 5x the bet, while the maximum of five gives you the best reward, the equivalent of 125 triggering bets.

The part that I’d consider a bonus game is the one where the jukebox selects a random multiplier, to be applied to your prizes. You have a couple of choices next, as you can gamble with the money you just won, you can risk only half of it, or you can collect it all.

Records Mini Game

The image of a record is used for the last scatter symbol of the slot. Up to five of these symbols will give you prizes that reach 1,000 coins, but with at least two you can get into the bonus feature as well. These records open up and let you see the discs that are inside. More identical discs will bring you better prizes. The least you can win is 50 coins for two identical records, but three will get you 500 coins, while four or five matching discs award 8,000 coins.

Betting options and jackpots

You will discover that you have two things to work with as far as the bets are concerned. The number of lines you want active is one of them, up to 20 being available. The second is the betting range for each of those lines, in this case the coin denomination being the one you work with. You can bet $0.01 to $10 per line, so the bets will reach $200.

The 10,000 coins that the wild symbol can get you will turn into $100,000 cash, when the right five symbols are on an active payline.

Design and symbols

I’ve enjoyed the design of the game, even with the many logos that were used inside. The Jukebox is barely visible behind the reels, while on them you get the images of music instruments, records and logos that are created in the style of the decade they represent. There is a certain retro look to it that I’ve enjoyed tremendously.

Symbols: Logo (wild, 10,000 coins), Piano (bonus, 2,000 coins), Jukebox (scatter, 125x), Record (bonus 1,000 coins), Guitar (500 coins), 00s Logo (250 coins), 90s Logo (150 coins), 80s Logo (125 coins), 70s Logo (100 coins), 60s Logo (100 coins) and 50s Logo (75 coins).
