I’m slightly disappointed with the offer that Meerkat Mayhem has when it comes to the features, though besides the basic scatters and wilds you’re also going to find a Going Wild feature which looks quite good.
Whenever you see the symbol marked wild, with the image of a warrior’s horned helmet, it means that you’ve just found a very basic wild symbol, which has as its only job the power to substitute for another symbol. This only happens when it’s appropriate, when the wild symbol lands exactly in the position where it’s needed. You also need the right regular symbols on the same payline, so that it can form a combo together with them.
The Queen symbol would be the scatter icon of the game, which will reward you with prizes when there are a minimum of three present. The location of the symbols isn’t important, only the total number they appear. The rewards are on the low side though, going only from 2x to 5x the total stake.
Going Wild
This is a very special feature, which is simple enough, but which I haven’t seen used in other slot machines too often. Whenever you get the symbol with the Meerkat Devil, there are five regular symbols which will all turn into wild versions.
The Scuba Diver symbol turns into a Diver, the Bikini Girl now has a couple of meerkat babies, the scooter rider turns into a biker, the WW I pilot into a modern fighter pilot and the Mexican guitar player into a rocker.
Betting options and jackpots
If you decide to go with all the paylines which the game uses, you wager with 30 coins each round. The value of the coins is left up to you, with the minimum being $0.01, the maximum $10. The game has bets of up to $300 per round as a result, which is quite a bit of money.
Despite the high wagers which are placed in the game, the rewards don’t make it worth your while. You can win 300 coins back, which means at most $3,000.
Design and symbols
The design of Meerkat Mayhem is not impressive, but I’d have to say that it’s quite fun to look at, and I loved playing on it anyway. All the symbols chosen here are with meerkats which take human roles, seen in various professions or circumstances. You have a Queen Meerkat, you have fighter pilots, wizards, bike riders, a couple at a wedding and so on. The reels are made to look like they are the windows of a Medieval building, with a Devil Meerkat sitting next to them in a chair.
