Rat Pack

Rat-PackRat Pack is a Microgaming slot machine, which takes the well known name used for a group of actors and uses actual rats as the main characters instead. The name “rat pack” was used to describe certain actors, which often appeared together in movies in the 50s and 60s. Though originally it included Humphrey Bogart as well, after his death the name continued to be used for the group which included Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr, Dean Martin, Joey Bishop and Peter Lawford.

Wagers in Rat Pack are placed on up to 30 bet lines. The slot’s 5 reels will offer you symbols like the two wilds or the scatter, with multipliers and free spins being made available to you as well. The game gives you a chance to win a $25,000 jackpot.

Features of Rat Pack

Among the features offered by Rat Pack you will discover some that are very common, like the wild symbol, scatters, multipliers or the free spins, but in certain cases you’re also going to take advantage of nudges. Also, there are two wilds in the game.

The first of the two wild symbols is also my favorite, despite the fact that it doesn’t have prizes of its own to give away. However, it has a 2x multiplier, so it will double any prizes that it substitutes for. It will substitute for the other wild, but not for the scatter symbol. This particular wild has the “2x” Logo on it.

The second wild, the one with The Rat Pack Logo, will not give you bigger prizes, as it doesn’t have its own multiplier. However, this wild can form its own combinations when enough of these Logos land on the same active line. Between 75x and 5,000x the line wager is offered as a prize, for 3 to 5 wilds. You can only use this wild as a substitute for regular icons, so it can’t replace the other wild or the scatter.

With the Gold Record symbol, you’re going to get the scatter feature of The Rat Pack. You don’t need it to appear on a certain line, instead being enough to get it in at least two locations on the reels. The minimum payout offered is worth 2x the triggering bet, while the maximum is at 100x.

Free Games Feature

The slot has free spins, as many modern games do, and it triggers them when you have 3 to 5 scattered Gold Records present.

You don’t get a fixed number of free spins here. Instead, the reels with the scatters that triggered the feature are held in place, while the rest of the reels spin. After each spin of those reels, the Gold Record scatters will nudge down, by one position on the reel. They keep going down, one position at a time, until they go off screen. Once you have no more Gold Records present, the feature ends.

If you’re extremely unlucky, this feature could end after only one free spin, depending on how the initial scatters have landed on the reels. If they landed at the top, you could get four spins for free. It might not seem like much, but at least three reels are held, so two at most are spinning in the beginning.

Betting options and jackpots

You are free to cover as many lines as you want, out of the 30 available each round. The line wager is anywhere between $0.01 and $2.50 (using 10 coins of $0.25), while the maximum bet for the slot is $75.

You can get up to 10,000x when the top jackpot is awarded, which means 100,000 coins, or $25,000. The 2x multiplier wild is needed on the same line with four symbols with Rat Pack wilds, in order to get that amount. Otherwise, it’s worth 5,000x.

Design and symbols

I’ve enjoyed the design, with the members of the rat pack being actual rats in this case, entertainers that are singing or playing the piano in a classy joint, probably in Las Vegas. There are gold records and logos among the symbols, playing cards with musical instruments next to them, while the background is the image of the stage with lots of lights around it.

Is It Worth Playing?

The Rat Pack theme does a lot to make this slot attractive. It will do well enough feature wise as well, and I love its use of two wilds, or the unusual way in which the free spins are offered.

This Rat Pack slot is offered by all online casinos with Microgaming software, playable either in practice or in real money mode.
