Terminator 2 – Judgement Day Slots

Terminator-2-Judgement-DayMicrogaming gives us in Terminator 2 – Judgement Day a slot machine created under official license, themed around the second movie from the famous Terminator franchise. Inside, there are real photos of the actors which played in the movie, in a slot with a bit of a dark look but also having a modern design. The movie in question is the one that was released in 1991, having among its actors names like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton.

You’re getting 5 reels with 243 paylines on them (ways to win), plus scatter symbols, randomly triggered bonus games, wilds and free spins. The most you can win is $3,000 though.

Features of Terminator 2 – Judgement Day

A number of modern features were used by Microgaming, starting with the ways to win (243 to 1024), the free spins, scatter symbols, wilds and a T-800 mode which looks interesting.

Normally, the game will offer 243 ways to win, but during free spins they go up to 1024. The ways to win are favorites for many players because they don’t form combinations on lines which were determined by the developers. All you need is for the right symbols to be on consecutive reels, starting from the leftmost one and going to the right. If you have a symbol on the first reel, one on the second and one on the third reel, you’ve just got a win.

One disadvantage of the ways to win is the smaller payouts that you can expect to get. That’s why the wild symbol only gives away prizes of up to 1,500x the line bet, because the odds of getting paid often are high and the game has to make up for it somehow. The T2 Logo is the one that acts as the wild and it is used to substitute for most of the symbols, two exceptions being the scatter and bonus symbols.

The scatter is the kind that pays you and also triggers free spins. It doesn’t even have to be on neighboring reels to give you something, it can be anywhere with its 2 to 5 symbols needed to pay you. Prizes vary between 1x and 100x the bet.

Free Games Feature

Whenever the scatter icon makes an appearance in at least three positions during the same round, you get the prize I mentioned and access to free spins. The 10 free spins you get here have 1024 ways to win instead of 243, so there are even bigger chances of getting prizes from it.

For the duration of the free spins, you will find that the Evil Terminator is also used as a wild, capable of transforming into other symbols with characters in them.

T-800 Vision

This is a randomly triggered feature, offered at the end of some spins which had no winning combinations in them. The entire design turns from blue to red. You need only one scatter symbol to get the free spins started during the T-800 Vision mode. Also, you get cash prizes for the character symbols that are present.

Betting options and jackpots

This being a slot with ways to win, it uses multiples of 30 coins at all times, to cover the entire spin. One coin is the equivalent of one line wager, though you can use up to 10 per line. The coin size only goes from $0.01 to $0.10, so it’s a good thing that you get to use up to 300 per spin. A maximum wager of $30 is possible.

You can get paid up to 100x the round wager, meaning 30,000 coins or $3,000 cash. The wild offers up to $1,500.

Design and symbols

There are some things in the design which work out great, but there are some that feel out of place as well. The background picture is dark, but it looks like it shows off the interior workings of a Terminator robot. On the reels, you get a combination of character symbols which have real photos of actors that were in the Terminator 2 movie and others which show you card suits.

Is It Worth Playing?

Fans of the Terminator franchise, or of action movies in general, will enjoy playing this slot machine. Microgaming did a fairly decent job with it, though I’ve seen much better designed slots that were based on movies.

Terminator 2 – Judgement Day, the 1991 Movie

After the success of the 1984 Terminator movie, a sequel was created, and its name was obviously Terminator 2 – Judgement Day. Released in 1991, with James Cameron as the director, producer and co-writer, T2 had as its stars actors with big names, including Linda Hamilton, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Edward Furlong and Robert Patrick.

A shape shifting robot, model T-1000, was sent into the past, to kill a young John Conner and his mother. Humans also send a reprogrammed Terminator model back in time, with the goal to protect the young man. The movie was a big success, being the highest grossing title to be released in 1991. It is considered by many to be one of the best sci fi and action movies of all times.

The Terminator 2 – Judgement Day slot machine is offered through the Microgaming platform, so if you want to play it for real or just to practice, look out for casinos that use it.
