Extra Cash Slots

Extra-CashExtra Cash is a NextGen Gaming title, one where you will find a theme inspired by the newspapers that used to be back in the day, more precisely at some point before World War II. Plenty of symbols are inspired by this industry, from the newspaper boy sitting next to the reels, to the retro car that is carrying them to the newspaper stands, to the printing machine, the dog that’s bringing one to its owner and so on.

While the game has the word “cash” in its title, it’s not very generous with its prizes, only offering up to $1,000 if you get the right combo on one of its 50 lines. Among its features you will discover the re-spins, the scatter symbols, free spins and some wilds.

Features of Extra Cash

The wild symbols are part of this game, as they are part of any slot these days, but you can also get additional ones on the reels each round if you’re lucky. Free spins, scatters and re-spins are all part of the game as well.

The Newspaper with the Extra Wild title on it will obviously be the symbol which serves as the wild feature in Extra Cash. This symbol is capable of awarding its own prizes, but most of the time you will find that it will be used to help you with others, substituting for the ones needed in the location where the wild has landed. One thing I appreciated about it is that after each spin you get a chance to land additional wilds, which are added to the existing reels.

The scatter will show you the printing press, which is in the process of creating a paper with the word SCATTER on it. This symbol can appear anywhere on the five reels, giving prizes based on the total number of times it has showed up. Get 3 to 5 and you will be rewarded with cash prizes of 2x to 50x the wager.

Re-Spin Feature

Whenever 2 to 4 scatter symbols are present in the game, you will activate the re-spin feature, which basically gives you a second chance to get one extra scatter. This will either trigger free spins, which wouldn’t have been possible with two scatters, or will give you bigger prizes from the scatter. The reels which have scatters are held, while the others re-spin once for free.

Free Games Feature

The game requires that you have 3+ scatter icons present on the reels, before you can get access to the free spins. You get 8 spins for 3 scatters, 12 for 4 and 20 spins for 5 scatters. If wild symbols make appearances during the free games, they will be held until the rounds are over.

Betting options and jackpots

You can cover each individual line with a bet of up to $2, which is the maximum value of one coin. Since 50 lines are used, you can bet up to $100 each round.

The 500 coins from the wild will give you up to $1,000. The scatter does better, with its 50x the bet payout meaning $5,000 cash.

Design and symbols

The game has a 3D design that I appreciated, but it’s mostly visible in the background picture, which shows you the streets of a city and the newspaper boy as he’s sitting on a piece of furniture and advertising the news. The reels are in the middle and they’re occupied by 2D icons, some themed, others being simple playing cards. I’ve found the themed icons to be quite attractive, with a retro feel to them that many would appreciate.

Symbols: Newspaper (wild, 500 coins), Printing Press (scatter, 50x the bet), Newspaper Car (400 coins), Dog (300 coins), Newspaper Stand (250 coins), Newspaper Wagon (200 coins), Newspaper Stack (200 coins), Ace (150 coins), King (100 coins), Queen (100 coins), Jack (100 coins) and 10 (100 coins).

Is It Worth Playing?

It’s one of the few slots from NextGen that offers more than 25 lines, 50 in this case, so you can expect more chances to win each round. Unfortunately, the price you pay is in the value of the biggest prizes.

This Extra Cash slot is offered by all online casinos with NextGen software, playable either in practice or in real money mode.
