Gladiator Slots

GladiatorGladiator is the kind of slot that is based on a movie, using photos of the actors for its symbols. It was one of the most popular movies the year when it was launched, with the main character being played by Russell Crowe. Created by Ridley Scott, the movie followed the life of a Roman general that became a gladiator, following the death of his family at the hands of the Emperor. You get the full experience from the slot machine, from the symbols that have the real characters in them, to the sound effects and the cut scenes.

Whatever bets you decide to place in Gladiator, you can use up to 25 paylines for them. The game is a 5 reel title, with a variety of bonus games, scatter symbols, wilds, free spins and multipliers, all great features to have, though the ultimate target is still the $1,250,000 top jackpot that you can take home.

Features of Gladiator

Two different bonus games get triggered, one through the wild, the other through the scatter symbol. The free games and multipliers are available through one of the two bonus games.

The wild symbol seems mostly put in the game to trigger one of the two bonus games, though it will do its usual job as well, just in a rather limited way. It is only going to appear on reels 2, 3 and 4, plus it will not award prizes directly. The substitution ability works like it should, but since it doesn’t appear on all the reels, the wild is no longer the most important symbol here.

The second symbol would be the Coliseum, a scatter symbol that gets you prizes whenever at least two of them are in random positions. The prizes offered for two to five Coliseums go from 1x to 100x the triggering bet.

Coliseum Bonus

While the Coliseum scatter has to appear at least two times to get you a cash prize, for the bonus game to start you need a minimum of three. You are taken to a screen with various stone tablets, arranged in four rows. By picking one tablet from each row, you get one prize of each kind, including free spins, multipliers, extra scatters and extra wilds. Once this picking phase ends, you can get started with the free spins.

Gladiator Bonus

The second bonus game of Gladiator starts when you have three wild symbols on the three reels that accept them. Get the wild on the middle three reels, and you get into the bonus game. A collection of masks are displayed on the screen, with a value assigned to each one. You win the prizes mentioned on the masks.

Betting options and jackpots

If you’ve seen how much the top jackpot is worth, you probably expect the bet requirements to be on the high side, and you’d be right. If you want to get the most out of the 5,000x top jackpot, you’re going to have to invest up to 10 coins per line, with the denomination as high as $25. That’s a $250 wager that is needed to activate only one payline, with the total bet reaching $6,250. Obviously, you don’t have to wager that much, the lowest denomination being only $0.02, but for a million dollar prize that would be the requirement.

The top jackpot is only a 5,000x multiple, but thanks to the size of the bets allowed in this slot it will get you up to 50,000 coins, or $1,250,000 total in cash. Multiply whatever line bet you can afford to use with 5,000 and you will find out how much you can win from this game.

Design and symbols

As this is an official game, built under official license, the symbols mostly consist of various characters from the movie, though you don’t actually see Russell Crowe among them. The Roman inspired design is used inside, there are sound effects that are appropriate for this theme and cut scenes that are also taken from the movie. The playing cards are simple letters on black backgrounds, all of them sporting the same look. It’s not a great looking slot, but it will do just fine if you’re a fan of the movie.

Symbols: Gladiator Helmet (wild), Coliseum (scatter, 100x triggering bet), Emperor (5,000x), Lucilla (1,000x), Senator Gracchus (350x), Guard (250x), Proximus (250x), Ace (200x), King (200x), Queen (120x), Jack (120x), Ten (75x) and Nine (75x).

Is It Worth Playing?

Whether you’re a movie buff or simply someone that’s looking to get rich, Gladiator will have a lot to offer you. Its million dollar level prize will not be cheap to go after, but there aren’t that many slots that can offer that much without having to rely on their progressive jackpots.
