Skazka Slots

SkazkaSkazka has one of the more special themes you will find in slot machines, the kind that is unique to it and it’s likely it will remain so in the future. The name comes from the Russian word for “fairytale”, with the symbols that are selected for it consisting of various images that might be common even in the western world, like the princess, the frog prince, the gingerbread house or the goldfish that can grant you wishes. It’s a charming slot machine, though it’s by no means a great looking one. However, it does give you the impression that the Russian culture played a big role in it.

Skazka gets the standard 5 reels and on them there are as many as 20 bet lines active each round. Playtech is the designer behind this particular slot, while the features they placed inside include the free games and their multipliers, scatter symbols and the wild. The prizes are a big part of what makes this slot attractive, giving away up to $500,000.

Features of Skazka

The collection of features of Skazka is comprised of scatter symbols, of wilds, of free spins and multipliers, all solid choices for a modern title.

A Gingerbread House is selected to serve as the slot’s wild feature. It receives the two major roles that the wild tends to get in most slots, one of them being the substitution power, the other being that of the trigger for the top jackpot. In this case, the jackpot is at 10,000x, with the requirement being the usual five symbols on one active line. The substitution is done when the wild is on the correct payline and is able to do something about a new combination from that position. It doesn’t substitute for the other two special feature symbols, both of them scatters.

The first scatter symbol is the Dragon, a monster with three heads. The only thing this particular scatter does is it triggers a cash prize. Depending on the number of dragons on the reels, you can win between 1x (two scatters) and 250x the bet (five scatters). The position of the symbols doesn’t matter, only that they are present.

Free Games Feature

The free games are won with the help of their own scatter symbol, a picture of the sky that has Free Games written on it. Appearing only on the 1st and 5th reels, these scatters need to both be present to get the 20 free spins triggered, along with their x2 multipliers.

Betting options and jackpots

The betting range is big enough that anyone can play this slot, with the wagers closer to $0.01 being for penny slot players, while those closer to $1,000 being for high rollers. Line bets use as many as 10 coins, each one having a $0.01 to $5 denomination. The line wagers of up to $50 can turn into a $1,000 total bet when all the lines are used.

Given the right combination of symbols, the game can award up to 10,000 times what you used for the line bet. Since the line bet is in the $0.01 to $50 range, you can take home as little as $100, or as much as $500,000. Either way, it will be 10,000x the line bet.

Design and symbols

The theme of Skazka is a blend between the fairytale land and the Russian inspiration, which is seen in many of the symbols and in the way the playing cards are decorated. I found it to be a charming experience, especially as I have nothing against a good fairytale, but I wouldn’t put it on the same level graphics wise with the slot machines that are launched these days. The quality is simply not that good.

Symbols: Gingerbread Cabin (wild, 10,000x), Free Games (bonus), Dragon (scatter, 250x the bet), Frog Prince (500x), Russian Girl (400x), Goldfish (300x), Soldier (200x), Ace (150x), King (125x), Queen (100x), Jack (75x) and 10 (50x).

Is It Worth Playing?

Given that it has a theme that no other slot has approached so far, with that focus on the Russian fairytales, you should give it a try if its subject appeals to you. Its top jackpot of half a million can also be a good reason, though the wagers required to get it are by no means small.

You will find Skazka at any online casino which chooses to use software from Playtech, playable either for free or for real money.
