Sopranos Slots

SopranosBased on the TV series with the same name, The Sopranos is a slot machine that was created by the guys from Playtech. It’s created with the official license obtained from HBO, using pictures of the actors which played in it as some of the symbols. The story of the TV series told us about the mobster Tony Soprano, an Italian American based in New Jersey which starts having therapy sessions because of the panic attacks he was having. The TV series was wildly successful, so it’s no wonder that a slot machine was also created based on it.

You can place your bets on 1 to 25 lines, after which you can spin the game’s 5 reels and see how close you got to the $150,000 top jackpot. Among the features, the game uses four types of free spins, a wild, three scatters and a couple of bonus games.

Features of Sopranos

The game makes sure that you will be entertained while playing the game, using a lot of different features to keep you in your seat. Wilds are present, along with multiple scatter symbols which can bring you bonus games and four types of free spins.

Tony Soprano himself serves as the main symbol of the game, the wild that can also give away the 3,000x jackpot. With the exception of the three scatter symbols, all others can use the wild to create a combo, as long as they get this symbol instead of the one they need. It’s a simple wild, no extra features or capabilities coming with it.

Free Games Feature

The free games feature is impressive, giving you four different game modes, which you have to unlock. You first need a minimum of three Sopranos Logos to be scattered on the reels, to get the free spins started.

The four modes are called Soldier, Capo, Boss and Family. Once you’ve unlocked additional game modes, besides the initial Soldier mode, you can start choosing which one to play when this feature is triggered. The progress bar which is used to unlock a new mode has three steps. You need three Sopranos Logos present to advance 1 step, while four or five Logos will advance you by two steps. You need to trigger the free spins two or three times, before you can unlock a new mode.

Soldier Mode uses Christopher Moltisanti as an extra wild for the duration of the 25 free spins which are offered by it. Getting this extra wild in the middle position of the 3rd reel will trigger an additional 5 free spins.

Capo Mode gives you 20 free spins, which benefit from randomly chosen multipliers of 2x to 5x. Paulie Gaultieri is the symbol with an extra role in this case, its appearance increasing the multiplier by 1x. The rounds which don’t get the Paulie symbol will see the multiplier go down by 1x, but the total will not drop below 2x. You can’t retrigger the Capo free spins.

Boss Mode will only offer you 10 spins for free, but with Tony Soprano as the main symbol. You receive between 2 and 5 Tony Soprano extra wilds on the game’s reels. If you get Tony on the centre position of the 3rd reel, you receive 5 extra free spins.

Family Mode also gives you 10 games for free. The game uses only 7 symbols, out of which one is used as the wild and has a 2x multiplier. Since fewer symbols are used, the odds of a new combo forming are considerably increased. This feature can’t be retriggered.

Raid Bonus

From time to time, you will find that the game offers a randomly triggered bonus game, called Raid. A police raid is about to take place, at two of your locations.

You have to hide a total of four envelopes with cash, in just as many hideouts (floor, container, closet and ceiling). You can use a single hideout for all envelopes, or you can put one in each hideout, the way you distribute them is left up to you. In each envelope there is the equivalent of 2 times the bet.

Two of the hideouts are safe, the other two will be discovered by the police. The envelopes which are not discovered will be yours, with the money they hold (up to 8x the bet total).

Bada Bing Bonus

You can trigger this feature with the help of one of the scatter symbols, the Bada Bing Logo. It appears on the middle three reels and all of them need to have it in order for the feature to start.

Five people are waiting for Tony to meet them. They are Paulie, Johnny, Christopher, Bobby and Artie. You decide who will be the next one to meet him and you get a prize out of it. Sometimes, you will be offered a second choice, for an additional prize.

Stolen Goods Bonus

The Container scatter has to be on both the 1st and the 5th reels, in the same round, for the Stolen Goods feature to be activated. A heist is planned in this feature, with 10 containers being displayed on a map. Each container has a prize in it, one of the 10 available. You don’t know which prize will be yours when you pick a container, so luck has a big role in this bonus game.

You also get a second chance though, where you can pick again if you’re not satisfied with the prize awarded by the container. Up to three picks are available, but that last one you have to keep.

Betting options and jackpots

The complete betting range goes from $0.01 to $1,250. That maximum bet covers all 25 lines with $50 wagers, which is the highest value of one coin as well.

As for the prizes, you can get up to 3,000 coins when Tony forms its own combo, with the value reaching $150,000.

Design and symbols

The game was designed while keeping the fans of the show in mind, so the symbols with characters all have photos of the actors that played in the series. Most of the other symbols are playing cards with things like bottles, poker chips or booze next to them. The New York skyline, in black and white, is shown in the background picture. The game does have a vintage feel to it, which works great in the case of a mobster themed title.
