Diggin Deep Slots

Diggin-DeepDiggin Deep is a gold mining themed slot machine and a Rival Gaming creation that has very good graphics and a set of features you will enjoy taking advantage of. Gold mining seems to be fairly popular among slot developers, as it’s far from being the only slot themed around it. Maybe it’s the gold connection, or the idea that riches could be right under your feet, ready to be yours with a bit of effort, but people seem to enjoy these games when they are well made. Diggin Deep certainly tries its hardest to be entertaining. Let’s see if it succeeds.

You get 20 bet lines on the 5 reels of Diggin Deep, plus more than enough features to make them fun to bet on. There are scatter symbols, there are expanding wilds, two different bonus games and free spins that have multipliers. The prize is highly disappointing though, offering a maximum of $2,500.

Features of Diggin Deep

Diggin Deep tries to give the player most of the features they expect in a modern game, not relying solely on graphics to keep them busy. The expanding wild, the free spins with multipliers and the two different bonus games all make up a pretty solid feature list.

The Miner’s role in this game is very important, being an expanding wild. Though it is reserved for three reels out of five (first, third and fifth), the Miner will cover an entire reel if that gets the player a winning combination, so it makes up for its shortcomings. It can be used with any other symbols, as long as the goal is to form a winning line (wouldn’t work with scatter symbols).

Free Games Feature

The Cogs symbol is one of the game’s scatter symbols, the one responsible for a round of free spins starting up. You get 5 to 20 spins this way, as long as you have the required three to five Cogs scattered on your reels. The fact that you get three times the usual prizes as well only adds to the attractiveness of the feature.

Pick a Crate

The Crate is another scatter symbol, having a purple question mark on the side and appearing in at least three locations on the screen in the rounds when it triggers a bonus game. Pick a Crate is the name of the bonus feature that gets started with its assistance. You see the miner activating a conveyor belt, which results in the appearance of three crates on the screen. You pick one of them and you get the prize that is revealed.

Bonus Game

Finally, we have the Gold Bars, perhaps the most attractive symbol of the slot. It’s the third and final scatter symbol, with the same ability of triggering a bonus feature when at least three are present.

The bonus game allows you to create your own mine, where you dig through a screen of purple dirt, creating your own galleries along the way. As you stumble across diamonds and gold, you get prizes.

Betting options and jackpots

Each of the game’s 20 bet lines accept 1 to 10 coins when the bets are made, though you don’t have to activate all of them if you can’t afford it. Those coins get denominations in the $0.01 – $0.25 range, so you can bet up to $2.50 per line, or $50 total.

The part that disappoints here is the top jackpot, which offers you only 1,000x the line bet, or up to 10,000 coins. It might sound like a lot initially, but take a look at the maximum $0.25 denomination of a coin, and you get a top jackpot of only $2,500. The free spins might be able to help out since they have a multiplier, but it’s far from enough to make this an appealing target.

Design and symbols

The gold theme is well approached and the symbols look very good. It’s visible that the developers didn’t go lazy while designing them, they look very good, with a combination of wood and stainless steel that seems to be built into each one. The problem is mostly with the background image, fully visible behind the reels. It uses the same colors as the symbols, making them harder to see since they sort of blend in with the mine gallery that is behind them.

Symbols: Miner (wild), Cogs (scatter), Gold Bars (scatter), Crate (scatter), Goblin (1,000x), Lamp (500x), Pickaxe (300x), Hammer (250x), Wheelbarrow (175x), Shovel (100x), Mining Cart (80x), Gold Nuggets (60x) and Bucket of Gold (40x).

Is It Worth Playing?

Despite the very low top prize, the game manages to be attractive with features and with its design, so give it a go if you’re curious about the theme. Compared with many other slots it doesn’t really manage to measure up.

This Diggin Deep slot is offered by all online casinos with Rival software, playable either in practice or in real money mode.
