Hole in Won Slots

Hole-in-WonHole in Won is a golf themed slot machine that Rival Gaming created, a title that manages to be a bit funny, not something you would expect from a title that focuses on a sport that is so dry. The theme has been approached by a number of slot developers already, but it doesn’t seem like they do that great of a job with its design in most cases. This slot doesn’t do well in that area either, the graphics chosen for it looking like they have quite a bit of history behind them.

A 5 reel game that has the typical 15 paylines, Hole in Won will try to attract you with bonus games, scatter symbols and an expanding wild, plus a payout that is far more impressive, worth up to $18,750, though only the bonus game can get it. The regular base game will only offer up to $1,875.

Features of Hole in Won

An expanding wild, a bonus round and a scatter symbol are the main features of Hole in Won. It’s less than the typical slot from Rival usually offers, so I’m not that happy about that, but they manage to make the slot exciting nonetheless.

The expanding wild is a favorite feature in any game, especially since you get either 1 or 3 positions on a reel occupied. It expands only when this can get you a new combination, otherwise it remains in place and uses up only one spot. There are three reels that can get it, the ones numbered 2, 3 and 4. Prizes are not offered by it directly, but you should be making more money thanks to it, when it does appear.

Bonus Game

A scatter symbol, the purple bird will be a trigger for a bonus feature that actually requires a bit of skill. You need three or more scattered birds on the five reels, in any position they happen to be in.

You get to practice at the nine holes of the bonus game, giving you a payout. If you get the hole in one, you win the best prize available. The more scatter symbols trigger this feature, the better the payouts found inside. The best prize available is worth 37,500 coins.

Betting options and jackpots

Since the five coins you can use for each payline go only up to $0.50 in value, you can spend a maximum of $2.50 for each one. Since there are 15 lines total, the maximum bet is worth $37.50.

A 750x top prize is available in the base game, worth up to $1,875. The bonus game promises up to 37,500 coins, which means up to $18,750.

Design and symbols

The golf theme brings with it a lot of green for the design of the game. It’s visible in every single symbol, but it’s also used in the betting options area and in the background graphics. The drawing style is one that I’m not too fond of, but it works for the main characters, which look funny enough to put a smile on your face. I appreciated the fact that all the symbols get the golf theme, but they don’t look that great.

Symbols: The Eagle (wild), Birdie (scatter), Number 1 (750x), Golf Ball (500x), Logo (300x), Golfer Fore (300x), Umbrella (175x), Golf Cart (150x), Golf Clubs (150x), Caddy (100x) and Golf Shoes (80x).

Is It Worth Playing?

A fan of the sport will definitely enjoy it, but more for the action than for the features or the prizes that are available inside. It could’ve used a better top jackpot at least.

This Hole in Won slot is offered by all online casinos with Rival software, playable either in practice or in real money mode.
