The Back Nine Slots

The-Back-NineThe Back Nine is a golf themed slot machine, a topic that has been approached by a few other developers in the past. This would be one of the titles that have the best graphics though, if you compare it only with its direct competitors. Designed by Rival Gaming, it should be a pretty good choice for a fan of this sport, using only themed images, no playing cards here.

The Back Nine has 5 reels and just 15 lines on them. As its major features, you will discover that Rival has used wild symbols that can expand, bonus games and scatters. As for the biggest prizes offered, they’re only worth up to $3,750.

Features of The Back Nine

You get a couple of features inside, the expanding wild being the main one, followed by the scatter symbol which gives you a bonus round.

The red 9th hole flag is the image of the expanding wild, one of the two big features of the slot. The wild is going to make an appearance on one of the three reels from the middle (2 to 4), and when it can be helpful it will give you an entire reel with wilds. If it can’t help you out, it will not expand. As a wild symbol, it can take the place of any of the regular symbols, and as usual it will not do anything about the scatters.

Bonus Game

The bonus game allows you to try your skill at a game of golf. Some skill is indeed required here, not just luck, so you will get better in time, as you keep practicing at it. Three or more Golfer symbols will be sufficient to trigger it, and their position doesn’t have to be on a certain line, a random location being sufficient since they’re scatters.

The game consists of 9 holes, and during each bonus game you get to play at one of them. To get the best prize out of each hole, you have to get a hole in one. The prize value also depends on the number of scatters that triggered the feature, four or five paying better than three.

Betting options and jackpots

The wagers will be worth anywhere between $0.01 and $75, with the highest one being made out of 75 coins, at $1 each one. The smallest wagers use coins as small as $0.01, with 1 coin per line instead of the 5 that can be used at the highest level.

With a jackpot of only 750x, you shouldn’t expect to get more than $3,750 from this slot machine.

Design and symbols

This golf themed game looks better than most of its competitors, but that’s honestly not saying much. The individual details of the symbols look great, especially those of the characters, plenty of them being used for each one. The golf themed symbols and the grass covered backgrounds don’t make for a great design though, and this is true in pretty much every game of this type. Still, as a golf fan, you’re not going to find too many games that look better than The Back Nine.

Symbols: Golfer (bonus), Flag (wild), Gold Cup (750x), Blonde Lady (500x), Logo (300x), Hole (300x), Gray Golf Club (175x), Golf Cart (150x), Golf Clubs (150x), Red Golf Club (100x) and Golf Ball (80x).

Is It Worth Playing?

Those that enjoy this kind of activity will be the ones that will want to try it, but I have to say that it disappointed me with its prizes, while the features and the graphics were the ones that were better than average.

You will find The Back Nine at any online casino which chooses to use software from Rival, playable either for free or for real money.
