Gothic Slots

GothicGothic is quite clear on the kind of design and theme it will offer you, including dark looking images everywhere it can, from the playing cards which take up so many of the positions on the reels, to the images of goth ladies and the architecture found everywhere around the game area. The slot’s design was realized by the guys from Microgaming, and if you’re a fan of the genre and the goth look, you’re going to enjoy what it offers.

Gothic’s offer has 5 reels, 243 ways to win and a mix of scatter symbols, wilds and a bonus game. It also gives away payouts of up to $12,500 only.

Features of Gothic

Among the features of Gothic I’ve found the ways to win, scatter symbols, bonus games and a wild.

The slot’s 243 ways to win allow it to discard the usual method of forming combinations, where symbols are arranged on a payline, and instead it will use them if they’re on the correct reels. Symbols need to appear on adjacent reels, starting from the leftmost one, in order to form a combo. The prizes are offered all the time this way, but the value tends to be smaller than those won on paylines.

The wild symbol is the one that has the Crystal Ball shown on it. This symbol is used as a substitute, the natural role that gave the wild its name. It is used as a sort of Joker, being capable of taking the same role as a regular symbol, if that’s what’s needed to get a combination formed. Wilds don’t offer their own prizes in this case and they don’t replace scatters.

Speaking of the scatters, the image you will see in these symbols is that of a golden jewel, with a red stone in the middle and hanging from a chain. As a scatter, the symbol rewards you by offering prizes based on the number of such symbols you have on the reels in the same round. Payouts of 50x to 1,250x are awarded when three to five icons are present at the same time.

Gem Pick Feature

Have at least three scatter symbols on the reels, in the same round, and besides the prizes I mentioned above you will also get a feature called Gem Pick. A new screen loads up, with 15 gems arranged on the reels. You pick gems and if you find a prize you get to keep it. Getting the Collect message will end the feature though.

Betting options and jackpots

The way to change how much you bet per round is by modifying the value of the coin and by changing how many of them are used. Up to 10 coins are selected for each line, while their values go up to $1. The largest possible bet in this case is at $250, while the line bet is $10. Despite the use of ways to win, the betting system still relies on paylines, 25 of them being part of it.

The biggest reward comes from the scatter, which pays 1,250x for five of them in random locations, with a value of $12,500. The regular symbols award up to 1,000x, so $10,000.

Design and symbols

The gothic inspired design of this slot brings with it a natural dark look, which uses plenty of metal and its own style of architecture, this last part being visible in the room where the reels are placed. It uses lots of black and dark reds, it has too many playing cards and some characters that look as dark as the design.

Is It Worth Playing?

You’d have to be a fan of the Goth look to be able to enjoy the slot’s design, but if that’s the case you will also find that it has ways to win and a couple of good features to offer.

The Gothic slot machine is offered through the Microgaming platform, so if you want to play it for real or just to practice, look out for casinos that use it.
