Big Top Slots

Big-TopBig Top looks like an older title from Microgaming, the slot being limited both in the number of lines and in the design department. The theme they went after in this case is related to the circus, the name of the game indicating that as well, “Big Top” being the name used for the big circus tent. While feature wise it might be OK, that remains to be seen, the design is old and the drawing style is not appealing at all.

In a 5 reel game like Big Top, you generally expect more than the 9 lines available in it, but that’s what you get here. The features include in this case scatters and wilds, so they’re not as rich as in other titles. A 5,000x top payout is advertised, meaning up to $25,000.

Features of Big Top

There are only two very simple features in Big Top. The first one is the wild symbol, the second is the scatter.

To start with, we have a clown in the role of the wild, and the symbol that behaves this way is marked with a multi-colored “Wild” stamp underneath. As the wild, you can expect it to try and assist you whenever it makes appearances, but it’s still limited by the position where it shows up. It can’t substitute for a symbol if that doesn’t result in a new combo, so it has to land in the correct spot first, and that doesn’t always happen.

The second symbol that is considered a feature is the one marked Scatter, having some kind of Monkey Clown underneath. This is another popular feature in many games, but it doesn’t give you anything extra, only its own cash prizes. Depending on how many scattered symbols of this type are present, you get a payout that varies between 2x the bet (three scatters) and 50x the bet (five scatters).

Betting options and jackpots

The slot makes it easy enough to place a bet, requiring a single coin to activate a line. You use 9 coins to activate 9 lines, and you change the denomination to adjust the bet size, as needed. Each coin is valued between $0.01 and $5, so the wagers reach a top value of $45.

In exchange for your bets, the game promises payouts of up to 5,000 coins, which can mean $25,000 or less.

Design and symbols

As I’ve mentioned before, the design is the weakest part of the game. The game is colorful enough, just like a circus themed title should be, but the quality of individual designs is simply not good enough. The reason seems to be the fact that it’s an old title from Microgaming, so it doesn’t look like a modern one would.

Symbols: Wild Clown (wild), Monkey Clown (scatter), Big Top Logo (5,000 coins), Ring Master (600 coins), Clown (500 coins), Elephant (300 coins), Seal (250 coins), Ace (150 coins), King (120 coins), Queen (120 coins), Jack (100 coins) and Ten (100 coins).

Is It Worth Playing?

I’m personally not a fan, as the slot has only a couple of features and below average graphics. All in all, it’s not the kind of game I’d want to spend hours on.

This Big Top slot is offered by all online casinos with Microgaming software, playable either in practice or in real money mode.
