Mugshot Madness Slots

Mugshot-MadnessMugshot Madness is a slot dedicated to the criminal world, with various shady characters appearing among the symbols that are used. The new element is brought by the fact that these shady characters that appear in the mugshots are animals, not humans. You have rats, foxes, rhinos, an octopus, an alligator, and so on. These creatures are all dressed as gangsters, in a very dark looking game, looking almost dangerous. It’s one of the Microgaming slot machines.

Once the game has loaded, you will discover that it has 5 reels and a total of 20 paylines. As features, there are scatters and wilds, plus free spins and multipliers. It’s not a game with a huge reward though, offering up to $10,000.

Features of Mugshot Madness

A couple of feature symbols are included in Mugshot Madness, starting with Detective Jack Murphy in the role of the wild, and continuing with his Badge as the scatter. You get multipliers from the wild, while the scatter brings with it a feature with free spins and with a bonus game of sorts, where you collect criminals.

The role of the wild symbol is taken up by the image of Detective Jack Murphy, a dog with a hat. This wild has the ability to substitute for all the other symbols the Badge scatter being the exception. Whenever the wild manages to help out, by replacing another symbol and participating in a new combo, it will double the prize value with its 2x multiplier. The same wild can offer some of the best prizes of the game, the requirement being for three to five wilds to be on the same active line, going from left to right like any other symbol forming a combo.

The Badge scatter has two important roles in Mugshot Madness. It’s going to trigger the bonus feature, but it also has prizes to give away directly, which vary between 5x and 100x the bet, for three to five scattered symbols.

Line-up Feature

The bonus game involves free spins mostly, but it has a secondary aspect that allows you to make some extra money. You receive 15, 20 or 25 spins for free, when there are 3, 4 or 5 Badges present, respectively.

As the free spins are used, you will get various combinations of 3 to 5 symbols formed, which will pay you prizes as usual. The new element is the fact that each Criminal that is part of a combo is captured the first time it does this. You can only capture each criminal once, and it will offer you a prize worth 1x to 10x the bet, depending on his importance in the criminal underworld.

Betting options and jackpots

You wager on all 20 lines of the game, but the minimum line bet is $0.01, so the $0.20 needed to cover the entire slot is not a very large amount. The lines accept up to 10 coins, with denominations going up to $0.50, so if your budget allows it you can spend $5 per line, or $100 total for all of them.

The 2,000x top prize of Mugshot Madness will bring you up to 20,000 coins ($10,000).

Design and symbols

The action of the game takes place in front of the 13th Precinct, and it’s a very dark atmosphere. The image of the building shown behind has some kind of fog moving in front of it, the picture being taken at night. The symbols with the mugshots are all placed with walls made out of bricks, but colored in black for the most part. The characters look 3D made, all of them with animals of different types.

Is It Worth Playing?

It’s an unusual slot that Microgaming offers us here, the theme being quite unique, with decent features to take advantage of. I’m not that convinced by the quality of the design though.

The Mugshot Madness slot machine is offered through the Microgaming platform, so if you want to play it for real or just to practice, look out for casinos that use it.
