Mega Gems Slots

Mega-GemsWhile playing Mega Gems, you will notice that the slot offers a limited number of lines and that almost all the symbols are with images of gemstones on them. The gemstone theme is hardly an unusual one, and since there is so little variety in the symbols I’d actually prefer if developers stopped using it. Still, Betsoft made an effort here, so you will get an almost futuristic design in the area that surrounds the reels, and along with the features it should make it interesting enough.

You will not be impressed with the layout of the game, as it offers only 5 reels with 10 bet lines. An expanding wild which can trigger respins is the major feature available inside. As for the big prize, it would be the progressive jackpot that the slot offers.

Features of Mega Gems

Mega Gems relies on a couple of interesting features, including stacked jackpot icons which bring progressive jackpots and expanding wilds which trigger respins.

First of all, let’s take a look at the way you can get your hands on that progressive jackpot which this game offers. There are stacked Jackpot Logos on the middle three reels, and in order to trigger the big prize you need them to show fully on those reels and during the same round. The game also requires that you use the maximum bet in order to get it.

One fun fact about this game is that despite the low number of paylines it manages to offer a decent number of prizes. It does this by paying both ways, so combinations can also be formed starting from the right side, not just from the left.

The other major symbol of Mega Gems is the expanding wild, which will be present on the same three reels as the Jackpot Logo. Having a wild appear on the reels 2, 3 or 4 will trigger a respin, during which the wild stays locked in place. With additional wilds appearing on those reels, new respins will be triggered, so up to 3 can be won this way in a row.

Betting options and jackpots

The first three options that you have on the bottom line are used to decide how much the bets will be worth. First, you choose the coin, which reaches a maximum value of $1. Next, you pick how many lines you want, though only 10 are available. Third, you choose the bet per line, which decides the number of coins for each one. Here, you can use up to 10 coins. The maximum bet has 100 coins in it and a value of $100.

With the maximum bet, you can hope to win the progressive jackpot, which is in the five figure range. The alternative is a payout of up to $2,500, which is offered by the slot’s regular combinations.

Design and symbols

One of the things I really enjoyed about this game is the futuristic design which is visible behind the reels. You have these reels in the middle, while on both sides you have a sort of force field or display screen, with moving lights, dots and honeycomb structures. It doesn’t seem to serve any kind of purpose, but it sure is pretty. The symbols are unfortunately mostly various types of gemstones, the shape and the color being the one that is different in each case.

Symbols: Colored Blocks (wild), Jackpot Logo (progressive jackpot), Blue Sapphire (250x), Green Emerald (120x), Pink Gemstone (60x), Orange Gemstone (50x), Light Blue Gemstone (40x), Red Ruby (25x) and Yellow Gemstone (25x).

Is It Worth Playing?

There are both good and bad things about this slot, the choice of theme being the worst offender for me at least, a choice that is way too common these days.

This Mega Gems slot is offered by all online casinos with Betsoft software, playable either in practice or in real money mode.
