Battle for Olympus Slots

Battle-for-OlympusBattle for Olympus is one of Cryptologic’s slot machines, a title with a theme that takes us back to Ancient Greece and to the multiple gods that were part of their religion and culture. There are a lot of stories concerning the gods of Ancient Greece and the things they did, with names like Zeus, Hades or Hercules being instantly recognizable by everyone. A fight between Zeus and Hades is the event that the title of the game refers to, the so called battle. It’s even part of the slot’s bonus game, so you can take part in it and have a bit of fun.

You get a fixed number of 5 reels, but you have the option to influence the number of active paylines, going up to 50. Features include a couple of different opportunities for players, one of them being the bonus game that shows you the battle, while the others are the scatter and wild symbols, with a multiplier for a bit of an extra kick. Prizes can reach a $20,000 value.

Features of Battle for Olympus

The game’s offer is a decent one, with the list being extensive enough to make this a fun choice, even if it’s only average if compared with other slots. You get bonus games, multipliers, wilds and scatters, all in all a decent spread.

Cerberus, the three headed dog that guards the gates of the Underworld, is a mean beast and even though you wouldn’t want to meet him on the street, day or night, you will be glad to get it as often as possible in this game. This wild symbol has the ability to substitute for regular icons only, and when it does this you get a 3x multiplier applied to any win you might have. You basically triple your prizes when a wild contributes to a combination, so you always want to see it around.

The warrior that is on the side of Zeus, I assume it’s Apollo, acts as the other major feature symbol. It’s the scatter icon, with a role that allows it to offer prizes by being present in the game in random positions, the only requirement being that there are enough of them around. A minimum of three scatters gets you a prize worth 2x the bet, while four scatters gives you 25x and five scatters will award 250x the bet.

Battle Bonus Feature

You will find three different bonus symbols that are contributing to the formation of the combo that awards this bonus game. You need the Battle symbol on reel 1, the For symbol on reel 3 and the Olympus symbol on reel 5. Together, they spell Battle For Olympus, and they trigger the bonus feature.

At the start of the bonus game, you will be asked to select one of the two participants, either Zeus or Hades. Up to 5 attacks will be performed next, each one getting you a random prize. This is a bit of a skill game, where you need to press a button on the charge meter, trying to line up the tack as well as possible, under the icon of the warrior. If you manage to do this in the first four attacks you make, you are awarded with an award called Perfect Play.

Betting options and jackpots

Battle for Olympus can get expensive quickly, especially with 50 lines receiving wagers during each spin. Luckily, there is both the option to choose fewer lines and to reduce the denomination of the coin that is used on them. The denomination goes to as little as $0.01, while the maximum is at $10. You can wager up to $500 per spin inside, so be prepared if you want to maximize your prizes and chances.

Two different symbols will get you a payout worth 2,000 coins, or up to $20,000. A bit more interesting would be the scatter symbol, and it’s multiple of the total bet, which turns $500 into $125,000 (250x multiple).

Design and symbols

Battle For Olympus uses a cartoon style for all its symbols, with inspiration appearing to be taken from the Japanese Manga style of drawing. That’s the impression you get if you look at the two main protagonists, especially Hades, drawn like a classic Japanese Manga villain. It’s a colorful game overall, pretty and fun to play on, with the themed symbols being all highly detailed and a pleasure to use. The playing cards however have no connection with the game and they are all stock photos.

Symbols: Battle For Olympus symbols (bonus), Cerberus (wild), Apollo (scatter, 250x the bet), Zeus (2,000x), Hades (2,000x), Chariot (500x), Apollo’s Helmet (400x), Trident (250x), Ace (150x), King/Queen (125x) and Jack/10 (100x).
