Noughty Crosses Slots

Noughty-CrossesNoughty Crosses gives you a tribal tattoo themed game from Cryptologic, with a design that looks modern and hip. It has a bit of a hell like appearance in the background image, and the symbols and surrounding decorations don’t help much in changing that impression. It’s a gorgeous game and chances are that you will enjoy it. It has dragons, tribal signs, red hearts and unfortunately a few too many playing cards.

This is a slot with 5 reels and 243 ways to win, where you get just as many chances to win the big prize, worth $20,000. Among the various options available inside, you will find the wild symbol and the free spins symbols to be its most attractive features.

Features of Noughty Crosses

The ways to win system is already a nice feature to have, to which they’ve added a wild pair of dice and a free games trigger that uses X and O crosses on the screen.

The first one would be the wild, with a small image of a pair of dice in a corner. It’s not much of a wild feature, quite basic and without any extra powers. It simply substitutes for other symbols, but it doesn’t do anything about the two X and O bonus symbols. The substitution powers of the wild come into play only when it is on the same line as a few other identical symbols, and only if it results in a new or better combo being formed.

Free Games Feature

The way you get free spins in this game is different from pretty much any other slot I’ve played so far. You need to form a combo of three X or O symbols, in diagonal, vertical or horizontal mode, and only on the reels 2, 3 and 4. You get one of the two types of free spins (X Free Games and O Free Games), depending on what symbols you get (three X or three O symbols).

X Free Games give you 5 spins for free, plus 1 additional spin for each X that appears on the screen. Get additional X symbols during these spins and you will get 1 extra round for each one.

As for the O Free Games, they also give you 5 spins for free, plus 1 spin per O symbol present on the reels. While using the free spins, each O symbol you get will trigger one extra free game.

Betting options and jackpots

Despite the 243 different paylines/ways to win that you’re betting on, only 25 coins are used. Each coin will go in value from $0.01 to $20, with the largest wager being $500. The value of one coin is considered the equivalent of a line bet. You don’t get the option to pick the number of lines that are active, they’re all triggered, so you always use 25 coins. However, you get to change the coin denomination as you see fit.

The 1000 coins of the big prize gets you only $20,000, but the real advantage is that during each round you get 243 different chances of forming a combination, instead of the 25 that this game would have if it was a normal slot.

Design and symbols

The theme is based on tribal style tattoos, using a rather abstract combination of red in the background, with black vines and wings drawn all around the reels. I’ve found the design to be slightly confusing, mostly because I don’t know exactly what some symbols or surrounding graphics are supposed to represent. Otherwise, you clearly get the impression that it’s a good looking slot, there is no denying that.

Symbols: Wild Dice (wild), X (bonus), O (bonus), Noughty Crosses Heart (1,000x), Dragon (750x), Lucky Horseshoe (750x), Tribal Sign (500x), Ace (250x), King (150x), Queen (150x), Jack (150x), Ten (100x) and Nine (100x).

Is It Worth Playing?

If you enjoy playing a nice looking game, and your artsy side is a bit more developed than in others, Noughty Crosses will be a good game to try out. You’re not going to find inside huge prizes, but the 243 ways to win and the graphics will make up for it.

Noughty Crosses can be found at any Cryptologic casino, where you get a chance to play it for real money or in free mode.
