Wolverine Slots

WolverineWolverine is one of the most famous and beloved characters from the Marvel comics universe. The reason for it is mostly due to the movies from the X-Men series, which included the Wolverine character, played by Hugh Jackman in them, who did a great job. With his powers being based mostly on the ability to heal superfast, Wolverine had some experiments done on him by the army, which gave him the adamantium skeleton and the huge claws made out of the same metal, making him almost invulnerable and giving him a weapon at the same time. If you’re one of the many fans that love Wolverine and the X-Men series, then this slot machine was created for you.

Cryptologic is the developer that offers us this 5 reel game, on which they’ve placed a total of 25 paylines. Neither the prizes, nor the features, look that impressive, with the former being worth about $15,000, while the latter will give you free games, scatters and wild symbols.

Features of Wolverine

The feature list is decent, but it could be a lot better. The scatter and wild symbols will get you either a bonus game or re-spins, when they don’t give you cash prizes that is.

Wolverine is the main attraction here, and he is used by the guys from Cryptologic as the symbol with wild powers. The ability of the Wolverine wild allows it to substitute for regular icons, and hopefully that will mean a lot more winning combinations that get formed with its help. Besides the usual prizes that the wild helps you with, you can expect it to form its own combos at times, whenever multiple symbols are on the same payline. These payouts go up to 3,000 coins, and yes, that’s the top jackpot.

Sabretooth, Wolverine’s enemy, is the one that gets the second best role in the game, that of the scatter. With its ability to trigger its prizes through its simple presence, no matter in what exact location it lands, the scatter will give you up to 100x the value of your bet back, plus it can trigger the bonus game.

Wolverine ‘v’ Sabretooth

The scattered Sabretooth symbol is responsible for this bonus game getting started, as long as the requirement is met, which means that you need at least three symbols of this type on the reels during the same round. You choose the type of attack you want Wolverine to try against Sabretooth, and you get up to five attacks. Each successful attack gets you a prize, plus a bonus if Sabretooth is defeated.

Re-Spin Feature

The Re-Spin is another potential bonus feature, one that needs the wild to start it up. Three Wolverine wilds, present in random positions, are required for this re-spin feature to start. The Wolverine reels are held in place, while the others re-spin once.

Betting options and jackpots

The betting options in Wolverine revolve around the number of lines/coins you want to use, and around the denomination of those coins. The former gives you the option of using up to 25 coins, one for each activated payline. The latter allows you to choose a denomination anywhere between $0.01 and $5. Maxing out your options takes the wager up to $125 for a single spin of the reels.

In exchange, you can get one of the Marvel progressive jackpots (offered at random, with bigger bets giving you a better chance) or the slot’s own 3,000 coins (up to $15,000).

Design and symbols

I have to say, the way these characters are designed makes them look less attractive than the actors that played them in the movie. Hugh Jackman is a better looking man than the character that acts as Wolverine in the comic book, plus he doesn’t feel the need to hide behind a yellow suit to do his job. It’s one of my least favorite designs among the many Marvel comics slots that Cryptologic has created so far, but it is still above average if you compare it with regular games.

Symbols: Wolverine (wild, 3,000x), Sabretooth (scatter, 100x bet), Wolverine without mask (1,500x), Redhead Girl (500x), Wolverine’s Claws (200x), Wolverine Costume (200x), Adamantium Skull X-Ray (150x), Canada Backpack (150x), Black Boots (125x), Compass (125x), Claw Marks (100x) and Dog Tag (100x).

Is It Worth Playing?

Give Wolverine a go if you enjoyed the comic book or the movie, it’s a good slot machine and it follows the action from the former. However, if you’re not a fan in particular of this character, you will find better looking games from Cryptologic, also based on Marvel characters.

Wolverine and the X-Men

You will find Wolverine in most cases as one of the members of the group called the X-Men. A group of mutants that each has his unique power, the X-Men try to keep the mutants as a part of the human world, instead of trying to rule regular humans, like their enemies do.

Wolverine is one of the mutants that join the X-Men group, capable of healing incredibly fast, to which they’ve added senses that are as sharp as those of an animal. His adamantium skeleton and his long retracting claws make him a memorable apparition and a very dangerous one as well. The real world name of Wolverine is James Howlett, though he is often called Logan by others.

You will find Wolverine at any online casino which chooses to use software from Cryptologic, playable either for free or for real money.
