Hole in the Wall Slots

Hole-in-the-WallHole in the Wall looks like a slot machine which is themed around a game show, and that’s not something that happened by accident. Inspiration for this game came from a TV game show with the same name, which was made for the United States, but which didn’t catch on beyond the few seasons that it aired. Featuring teams of up to three players, the game asked them to go through holes in moving walls, trying not to fall in the pool found below them. The slot is an IGT creation.

This game gets 5 reels and 20 paylines, a pretty standard layout these days. You will discover free spins inside, along with scatters, bonus games and a wild. Top payouts bring you up to $37,500.

Features of Hole in the Wall

As for the features that are offered by the game, you will find there things like wilds or scatters, along with bonus games and some free spins.

We’ll look at the wild symbol first, the only one of its kind to be offered in this game. The way you use it is like in any other game, landing it on a payline which has a number of matching symbols already, so that you can form a combination with help from the wild. As usual, there are a couple of situations when the wild will not work, especially when scatter symbols are involved. Best of all, you can hope for a combo to be made out of wilds only, as that pays the best amount in the game, worth 10,000x the line bet.

Replay Free Game Feature

The first of the two scatters is the one marked Replay. This one has to appear at least three times on the reels, in random locations, for you to get access to the Replay Free Spins. One free spin is brought by this feature, when it triggers.

Bonus Game

There is also a bonus game to be tried in this case. It’s themed around the Hole in the Wall game show, and with help from 3+ scatter symbols you can get access to it.

If it does trigger, you are asked to click on one of the scatter symbols, to win a small bonus prize to get your started. Next, you are taken to a new screen, on the set of the game show.

You have to clear walls, and after each one you get paid an additional bonus prize. With each new wall that you go past, the prize goes up, starting at 1x and reaching 40x for the last one. If you go past all the walls, you can accumulate up to 79x the total bet value.

Betting options and jackpots

You decide both the number of active lines and the amount you wager for each one. You can go from $0.01 to $3.75 with each coin, which is also the amount you bet for each payline. With 20 lines selected, the bet will reach a maximum value of $75.

The best reward that the game offers is going to give you 10,000 coins, which if they’re at the maximum denomination will mean $37,500 cash.

Design and symbols

The game has a bit of a futuristic look, with the contestants taking part in the game show looking like robots. They have no eyes or mouths, being simply shaped like humans and made out of some white material. They are also dressed in protective gear, so initially I though it was some sort of futuristic construction themed game. It’s a good looking title, but it’s not that easy to guess that it’s themed around a game show.

Symbols: WILD Logo (10,000 coins, wild), Replay Logo (scatter), Bonus (scatter), Red Team (500 coins), Blue Team (500 coins), Clear Member (1,000 coins), Banana Blue Member (200 coins), Red Member Bear (200 coins) and Arrow (100 coins).

Is It Worth Playing?

The game should be a decent choice if you enjoyed the TV game show, but otherwise it’s not the most impressive slot machine you will ever see, and I wouldn’t suggest you try it out.

Hole in the Wall, The Game Show

This game show aired initially between 2008 and 2009, on Fox. The inspiration for it came from Nokabe, a game show from Japan, which translates to Brain Wall. In this show, large pieces of Styrofoam of different shapes move on a track, with the players from the different teams being required to go through the various cutouts made in them. The players must make sure the wall stays intact, and there are also a number of other rules to be followed.

In 2010, Cartoon Network took over this series, adapting it for the audience of this children’s TV network. It went on for about a year and a half, ending in January 2012.

You will find Hole in the Wall at any online casino which chooses to use software from IGT, playable either for free or for real money.
