A slot machine that takes on the legend of Camelot, King Arthur was created by IGT, a popular developer that manages to offer great experiences with its games. This is the case here as well, in a game that is highly detailed and lots of fun to look at. The legend behind King Arthur, the Knights of the Round Table and Camelot is well known, with countless movies, TV series and games being created based on it already. This is yet another slot machine with this topic, there are already a few out there, but you can tell immediately that it’s one of the better looking ones.
You get 5 reels with 20 paylines inside. The biggest prizes that it brings forward will give you $10,000 in the case of its regular symbols, or $16,000 when the scatter symbol gets involved. It’s a feature rich slot machine, which has scatter symbols, two types of wilds, multipliers and bonus features.
Features of King Arthur
As soon as you take a look at the paytable, you will notice that there are quite a few symbols that have various features attached to them, a quick count giving you four different icons that have such roles.
The first one would be the wild symbol, which actually has two different representatives. The better one is the King Arthur symbol, the 2x Wild that doubles the prizes of every single combination formed with its assistance. When you add the fact that it will give you up to 10,000 coins in prizes when it forms its own combinations, you can understand why I’m always smiling when I see this symbol on the reels.
There is a second wild symbol, one that does pretty much the same thing, but it doesn’t have the multiplier attached. Merlin is the character that appears in the regular wild. It can substitute for other regular symbols as well, and just like the King Arthur wild, it will not be able to substitute for another wild, scatter or bonus icon. It also has smaller top payouts, going up to 5,000 coins when it forms its own combinations.
Excalibur, the famous sword that only someone worthy of it could pull it out of the stone, appears as one of the four feature symbols in King Arthur. Used as a scatter symbol, it will have to appear a minimum of three times in order to pay you its prizes, which are multiples of the total wager of that round. They go from 2x to 800x the bet, meaning that you can walk away with up to $16,000 with its help.
There is even a small bonus game attached, which decides how much you win with the scatter Sword. Each scatter symbol gives you a chance to pull the sword out of the stone. You either get the consolation prize, or you get the payouts for 1 to 5 swords pulled out. To get the 800x prize, you need five scatter symbols, and then you need to pull out all five swords from the stone.
Camelot Bonus Feature
The game’s bonus feature triggers when the Camelot symbol is on a payline of its own, with the minimum required three symbols, the maximum being five. Prizes between 160 and 1,600 coins are offered when this happens, plus you can get the bonus feature. You have to guide Arthur in this quest game, as he tries to get back to Camelot. This is a game where you gamble, with the chance to get up to 4x the original prize if you guess correctly. If you don’t want to risk it, simply collect your winnings from the Camelot symbol and ignore the bonus feature.
Betting options and jackpots
The stake per line varies between $0.01 and $1 in this title, with the lines being selectable as well, in the 1 to 20 range. Maxing out all the betting options doesn’t give you much of a wager, its value only going up to $20.
There are 10,000 coins offered as part of the top jackpot, or up to $10,000. The scatter symbol also has a good prize, with 800x the triggering bet being its best value ($16,000).
Design and symbols
As I’ve mentioned before, this is one of the better looking King Arthur themed slot machines that you will find anywhere. There is a lot of attention to detail here, with the character and object symbols being drawn with great care. When it comes to the playing cards, their letters are gorgeous, something I rarely get to say about these icons. They actually add beauty to the game, and I love that the designers have been able to do that.
Symbols: King Arthur (wild, 10,000 coins), Merlin (wild, 5,000 coins), Excalibur (scatter, 800x the triggering bet), Camelot (bonus, 1,600 coins), Golden Chalice (300 coins), Excalibur in lake (200 coins), Ace (150 coins), King (125 coins), Queen (100 coins), Jack (75 coins) and 10 (50 coins).
Is It Worth Playing?
Yes, it’s definitely a game you will want to play. It might not have the biggest prizes, but it has low betting requirements, lots of different features and gorgeous graphics, so I’ve had a lot of fun playing it.
You will find King Arthur at any online casino which chooses to use software from IGT, playable either for free or for real money.
