Billion Dollar Gran Slots

Billion-Dollar-GranIn Billion Dollar Gran, you’re going to discover one of the weirder slot machines in Microgaming’s collection, a classic title that offers you win spins instead of regular payouts, which has nudges that you can use and which gives you real prizes only as part of the bonus features. A sweet old granny is shown in the background picture, and the image seems to try and suggest that she’s a billionaire. She’s wearing a gold crown and other expensive jewelry, she has gold coins and stacks of cash lying around, and the house she lives in seems rather luxurious.

The game is different enough in many ways, but at its basis it’s still a title with 3 reels and 1 line. There is only a bonus game offered, along with some nudges and the win spins that are so important in it. $20,000 is the biggest payout that can be won.

Features of Billion Dollar Gran

The features of Billion Dollar Gran are all quite different from what you’re used to. You get a Video Feature, win spins and nudges.

First of all, the game awards win spins in the base game, which you then use to get prizes. The base game and the win spins have their own reels and symbols, so the action in them is quite different.

If you’re in the base game, you have the option to use Nudges, moving the reel one spot up or down, in order to get the right symbols on the same payline. It can be a very useful feature, as long as you’re careful to check out all your options, to make sure you’re not missing an important combo that could be formed. The options offered here are Gamble Nudge, Nudge Repeat, Nudge Bank Held and Nudge Now.

Bowling Green Bonus Game

With three bowls appearing on the same line, you can get access to the slot’s bonus game, called Bowling Green. Gran is playing a game where you throw some bigger balls, trying to get as close as possible to a white ball. You are asked to pick one of the four bowls displayed, and Gran will try to get as close as she can to the jack with it. Payouts of up to 2000x are available.

Betting options and jackpots

It’s easier to place a bet in this game than in others, since it uses a single coin. You have to choose the value of that coin, with its $0.10 to $10 denomination, and that’s the total bet as well.

The 2,000 coins that the game awards are worth a maximum of $20,000, depending on the wager you placed.

Design and symbols

I’m not a fan of the design, though I have to say, at least it appears humorous. In the base game, you see Gran in her home, but during win spins she is on a green field and playing a game of bowls. As I’ve mentioned before, the symbols from the base game are completely different from the ones offered during win spins. Either way, the right side of the screen has a paytable that tells you what you need in a combo.

Symbols: Granny (500x), Toyboy (100x), Boat (25x), Jewellery Box (10x), Battenberg (5x), Tea (2x) and Knitting (1x).

Is It Worth Playing?

It’s not your typical slot machine, in more ways than one. It has a theme that is different, features that are far from common, plus payouts that reach $20,000, but I hoped they would go further.

The Billion Dollar Gran slot machine is offered through the Microgaming platform, so if you want to play it for real or just to practice, look out for casinos that use it.
