Gift Rap Slots

Gift-RapGift Rap is an unusual game theme wise, created by Microgaming and being themed around Christmas and around rap music at the same time. Santa’s helpers, the elves, are shown here as they rap and they get dressed like humans would. All kinds of toys are used as well, either music related or which are dressed to look like rappers. You’re not going to get the Christmas vibe from it, so it’s not a traditional slot machine for the holidays, but if you want something different to play, this might be it.

All the rap singing action of the slot takes place on 25 paylines, arranged on the standard 5 reels. The features are a bit simple, but you do get a bonus game, a scatter and a wild. As for the top prize, it’s at $30,000.

Features of Gift Rap

There are three features in Gift Rap, a wild symbol, a scatter and the bonus game. They’re all rather simple, especially the first two, but they do their job.

The Gift Rap Logo, on a tree decoration, gets to serve as the wild feature in the game. You will encounter it on all the reels, and it will both try to create its own combinations, and it will use its substitution ability to help others achieve the same thing. It all depends on how it lands on the reels and how many of them there are. With two to five wilds that are arranged from the left to the right, on the same line, you get a combo that pays between 3x and 6,000x (the jackpot). With random wilds appearing in other spots, you get their help with other combinations, if other matching icons are on the same line.

The Snow Spray symbol is also fun to see on the reels, a scatter symbol that doesn’t have to occupy certain positions in order to be profitable. All you need is for a minimum of three Spray symbols to appear, and you will be rewarded with payouts of up to 80 times the bet.

Bonus Game

The Rappin Jack Frosts symbol, with the snowman in a box that is dressed as a rapper, will be the second scatter symbol of Gift Rap, and also the one that gives you the bonus game. It doesn’t have any other role or prize to give you, but with 3+ of these icons you will get the bonus game started.

Payouts of up to 32,250 coins are possible in Gift Rap’s bonus game, the screen showing you a collection of 30 gifts, out of which you keep picking until you find the snowman’s head in one of them. The longer it takes you to find that head, the more prizes you accumulate.

Betting options and jackpots

The line wagers you get to place in Gift Rap allow for a maximum of 10 coins to be used, though you can get away with using only 1. You don’t even have to activate all the lines if you don’t want to, but it’s a good idea to do it if you can afford it. When you max out everything, including the denomination of the coins which goes up to $0.50, you end up with $5 line wagers and a $125 total.

A 6,000x top payout is a decent amount to walk away with, though since the features are so basic it could’ve offered more in this area. It can mean $30,000 for the player.

Design and symbols

The design is unusual, filled with cartoon characters and toys, almost looking like a slot machine designed for kids. The toys shown are the kind that very little kids will have fun with, so it’s not like you get toy helicopters so that grown-ups can enjoy them. The red and green that are so common when Christmas is near appear in the slot’s design, but you’re not going to guess right away that it’s themed around this popular holiday.

Symbols: Gift Rap Bauble (wild, 6,000x), Rappin Jack Frost (bonus), Spray (scatter, 80x bet), Green Elf (1,000x), Purple Elf (800x), Backup Elves (600x), Monkey Toy (200x), Teddy Bear Drummer (175x), Karaoke Toy (150x), Spinning Top (100x) and Plastic Hammer (50x).

Is It Worth Playing?

It’s unusual enough to warrant at least a look, but I wouldn’t use it to get into the spirit of Christmas, despite the theme being inspired by Santa’s elves. It also has basic features, which I’m not a fan of.

The Gift Rap slot machine is offered through the Microgaming platform, so if you want to play it for real or just to practice, look out for casinos that use it.
