Golden Goose – Winning Wizards Slots

Golden-Goose-Winning-WizardsWinning Wizards is a sorcery themed slot machine, one of four Golden Goose titles that were created by Microgaming. The Golden Goose part comes from the bonus game that you can trigger in this slot, but there is no goose or golden egg to be found among its base game symbols. The design is the part that suffers the most in these slots, though the regular features are not as rich as in other slot machines. To get the full experience from these slots you have to wager an additional bet, to get access to the bonus feature.

With 5 reels, Winning Wizards has 20 lines on them, along with scatter symbols and wilds with multipliers. It can award up to $20,000 and there are also some other prizes offered if you choose to activate the bonus features.

Features of Golden Goose – Winning Wizards

The game has scatter symbols for you, along with wilds and multipliers. If you’re OK with using a bigger bet just for the bonus feature, you also have up to four types of bonus games, with cash prizes, free spins and multipliers.

The Wizard, wearing a blue hat with stars and moons decorating it, will act as the wild feature in Winning Wizards. As the wild, whenever you have the Wizard on a payline in a position where another is required in order for a combo to form, it will take that role and you will get paid. Actually, you get paid double what that combo will typically offer, since a 2x multiplier is also applied by the wild. The wild does even better when it creates its own combinations though, with up to 10,000x being the prize that it can give you.

The Orb is the scatter symbol, which is going to pay up to 100 times the bet when 3 to 5 of them are scattered on the reels. It’s low compared with the other slots from the series, which will give 400x the bet.

Bonus Game

If you’re not happy with the features provided to you in the base game, you have the option to wager an extra 25%, going from 200 to 250 coins. That will give you access to a randomly triggered bonus game, which can result in all kinds of prizes and free spins.

One of the four possible bonus features that can get triggered by the extra bet would be the one where you pick a card. Five cards are present, with their face in the other direction. You pick the one you want, and it will reward you with up to 11 free games and multipliers that can reach 6x.

Another bonus feature is the one where you choose golden eggs, five out of the fifteen available. You get one egg from each of the five columns, and you can walk away with 5,000 coins (up to 1,000 from each egg).

The next one is a hard choice. You can pick a cash prize, which will give you up to 10,000 coins, or you can get the golden egg, which contains free spins and multipliers (a maximum of 50 spins and multipliers of up to 3x).

The last bonus game is simpler than the rest, where you simply get a reward, the maximum amount being 2,000 coins.

Betting options and jackpots

The game has a base game betting range of $0.01 to $40, but it can get to $50 with the extra bet activated. The line bet is composed of 1 to 10 coins, and their denomination goes from $0.01 to $0.20. You end up with line bets of up to $2, while the 20 lines can get $40 total. The extra bet uses an additional 50 coins, or up to $10.

The reward in Winning Wizards is the second best one from the four slots with the Golden Goose in them. You can get 10,000x, or $20,000.

Design and symbols

The game’s design makes it look like it was released by Microgaming at least a decade ago. Older wizard themed slot machines often have this look, with rather basic looking symbols and with letters of the playing cards styled to look like they are taken from hand written books. As usual, the symbols are a half and half mix of playing cards and themed images.

Symbols: Wizard (10,000x, wild), Orb (100x bet, scatter), Staff (4,000x), Spellbook (2,500x), Potion (1,500x), Ring (1,000x), Raven (900x), Ace (500x), King (400x), Queen (300x), Jack (200x) and Ten (100x).

Is It Worth Playing?

While it’s a good game, it’s not the best one from the Golden Goose slot series. It has lower scatter payouts than the rest of the games, but the top jackpot is the second best, so it might make up for it. The magic theme might also be a good argument for some players.

The Golden Goose – Winning Wizards slot machine is offered through the Microgaming platform, so if you want to play it for real or just to practice, look out for casinos that use it.
