Lucky Stars Slots

Lucky-StarsLucky Stars is a zodiac themed game, created by Microgaming. The lucky stars that the title mentions are the ones that form the constellations which borrow their names to the zodiac signs. You will find a few of those signs on the reels, but not all of them, the developers choosing to use playing cards for the rest, a big downside that you will spot as soon as the game loads. Given that there is quite a bit of competition in this area, the developers could’ve done a lot better, especially since the design quality is already pretty good.

You get the rather average combination of 5 reels and 20 bet lines from Lucky Stars, prizes of up to $50,000 and a combo of features that will give you everything you could want, from bonus games, to free spins, scatters, multipliers and wilds.

Features of Lucky Stars

You’re going to find it all in Lucky Stars, from the wild symbol, to the scatter, the bonus game and the resulting free spins with multipliers.

The Globe, which looks more like a huge pearl in space, acts as the slot’s only wild feature. It can replace any other symbol in a new combo that gets formed, substituting for it when it appears in the exact spot where it’s needed. If it doesn’t land on the right position, it can’t help out. More often than not, at least one of the paylines on which it landed will need its assistance. Multiple wilds that land on the same line will team up to create their own combo, paying up to 10,000x.

The Zodiac Wheel was chosen for the second type of feature of Lucky Stars. It’s the scatter symbol, meaning that it can appear in scattered locations in the game, and as long as you have enough of them they will form a combo even in those conditions. They award payouts based on the total bet, multiplying it by up to 200x, instead of using the line bet like the other symbols.

Bonus Game

The slot’s bonus game starts whenever you have 3 or more Zodiac Wheels scattered on the reels. You start with 7 spins for free, plus 3x multipliers. Then, you get to spin the Zodiac Wheel, and you choose the Star Sign that you want to land on.

If the right Star Sign comes up on the wheel, you get a choice to make, between an additional 15 spins with 3x multipliers and a bonus game. If you don’t get the right star, you receive a consolation prize, worth 10x the bet, and you start up the initial 7 free spins that you were awarded earlier.

In case you chose the bonus game, this feature starts first, asking you to pick five constellations and getting the same number of prizes from them.

Betting options and jackpots

You are able to bet between $0.01 and $100 per spin in Lucky Stars. The line bets accept up to $5, being composed of up to 20 coins of $0.25. You choose the denomination, the number of coins and how many lines, so you have full control within the limits set by the slot.

It’s a good top payout that you can win from this game, worth 10,000 times the line wager. That’s up to 200,000 coins, or $50,000.

Design and symbols

With planets and stars used as the background image, there is no doubt that it’s a decent looking game at the very least. It has some cool hand drawn symbols with star signs, but there are some playing cards as well among them, so you don’t get all 12 signs. The game looks good, but I regret not having all the star signs among the symbols, the way other similarly themed slots are made.

Symbols: Globe (wild, 10,000x), Zodiac Wheel (scatter, 200x bet), Earth (1,500x), Wind (300x), Water (250x), Fire (250x), Ace (200x), King (200x), Queen (150x), Jack (150x), Ten (100x) and Nine (100x).

Is It Worth Playing?

Its biggest pro is the top prize it offers, along with some of the features included. The design doesn’t impress that much, but for a fan of the zodiac it might be good enough.

The Lucky Stars slot machine is offered through the Microgaming platform, so if you want to play it for real or just to practice, look out for casinos that use it.
