Power Spins – Nuclear 9’s Slots

Power-Spins-Nuclear-9sThe Power Spins series offers three different slots, one of them being the Nuclear 9s title that we’re reviewing here. Each slot has a slightly different design, with classic symbols but with a number as well used in a couple of them, and in this case that number is the 9. The special feature that the power spins will bring you in this case is called Rolling Reels, and it’s available in a number of other modern slots. The series is offered by the guys from Microgaming.

Like in every other Power Spins slot, you get 9 lines from Nuclear 9s, placed on 5 reels. The Rolling Reels option is the main feature, which you pay extra for, while the secondary ones are the wild and the scatter. $50,000 is the biggest rewards promised by the game.

Features of Power Spins – Nuclear 9’s

Both wilds and scatters are present among the symbols, but they are rather basic features. The Rolling Reels option is much more interesting, and it brings multipliers with it.

The Nuclear Logo is the game’s wild symbol. It will substitute for other symbols, just like all wilds will do, but it will also try to form its own paying combinations. To do that, they have to land multiple symbols on the same line, and going from left to right. You can get paid up to 25,000x when this happens.

The second important symbol in Nuclear 9s is the Atomic Scatter. This symbol has the power to give you its rewards by showing up enough times on your reels. It doesn’t have to form combinations on predetermined lines, so that’s a big advantage of the scatter feature. Payouts of up to 300 times the triggering bet are available when enough scattered Atoms are visible.

The Power Spins are the ones that are different in this game, from the other slots from the series. In the case of the Nuclear 9s title, the Power Spins will activate Rolling Reels whenever you have a winning combo in a round. You have to pay an additional 33% to activate this feature, meaning that it’s the equivalent of a bet on 3 extra paylines. You can trigger it by clicking on the Power button, found at the bottom right corner.

Rolling Reels

Rolling Reels is the feature that you get whenever the Power option is on, and you get a winning combo formed in the base game. Whenever that happens, you get into Rolling Reels mode. The symbols which are part of the combo will melt away, and you will get new symbols to come in, hopefully forming a new combo with a new prize.

The first winning combo that you get pays like the paytable indicates, but the ones that come through the Rolling Reels feature will benefit from a 2x multiplier, so they’re double the usual value.

Betting options and jackpots

For each line that gets a wager, you can use up to 10 coins. You pick what the coins are worth, the minimum being $0.01, while the maximum is $1. Line bets don’t go higher than $10, while the total bet is at $90. With the Power option activated, you add another $30 to that wager, getting to $120 total.

Regular gameplay action will offer you payouts of up to 25,000 coins, or $25,000 cash. The Rolling Reels feature comes with a 2x multiplier, so if you wager extra for it you have a shot at a $50,000 payout.

Design and symbols

The game has the same mix of classic symbols, logos and numbers (9s in this case). It has the same dark look about it, with black reels used. A nuclear plant is visible in the background area, with radiation warning signs, with cooling pipes and with red alert lights. It uses a lot of green in its design, a good color for a slot with this theme.

Symbols: Nuclear Logo (2,500x), Atomic Logo (300x bet, scatter), Green 9 (1,250x), Yellow 9 (750x), Purple 9 (375x), Three Bars (250x), Two Bars (125x), One Bar (100x), Bell (20x) and Cherries (20x).

Is It Worth Playing?

The Rolling Reels are highly enjoyable, and the same goes for the 2x multiplier that comes with them. Add a $50,000 top jackpot, and you have a very attractive slot to play.

You will find Power Spins – Nuclear 9’s at any online casino which chooses to use software from Microgaming, playable either for free or for real money.
