Ruby Of The Nile Slots

Ruby-Of-The-NileMicrogaming is the developer behind Ruby Of The Nile, a modern slot machine which uses Ancient Egypt for inspiration, the way many other games have done before it. If you’ve played slots for some time already, you probably know how easy it is to find a slot machine with an Egyptian themed design, so Ruby of the Nile is far from original. The design, while elaborate and decent enough looking, doesn’t seem to be good enough to make it a top contender in its category.

The game is impressive in a lot of ways, mainly thanks to its use of multiple wilds and of five different scatter symbols. You also get multipliers and free spins from both types of symbols, which should help improve the slot’s $5,000 jackpot. It’s a 5 reel game, with 20 lines.

Features of Ruby Of The Nile

The two wild symbols are important features in this game, as are their multipliers. The other big symbol is the scatter, which rewards you with free spins. A couple of other scatters exist, with the only role for them being that of a prize trigger.

Two wilds exist, the Triple Wild and the Double Wild. Each one is marked with those words, so you know exactly with which one you’re dealing. Each wild is capable of substituting for another symbol and will multiply the prize of that new combo formed with its assistance. The Triple Wild will apply a 3x multiplier, while the Double Wild has a 2x multiplier. Neither wild can form its own combinations of symbols. Both of them can replace all symbols and most of the scatters, with the exception of the Treasure Chest.

A total of five scatter symbols exist in the game, four of them being triggers for prizes, while the fifth one brings you free spins. The four scatters that offer prizes need to be present on the reels with 3 to 5 symbols.

The Game Logo scatter brings you payouts of 10x to 100x the triggering bet. The Cleopatra scatter awards 10x to 80x the bet. The last two, with the Horus Eagle and with Anubis, will reward you with payouts of 8x to 75x the total bet, for the same 3 to 5 symbols.

Free Games Feature

Only one scatter symbol can award free spins, but it doesn’t have regular prizes to give you. The treasure chest needs to land on the middle position of the 5th reel, and if that happens you can win up to 20 spins for free, with multipliers used on the prizes being at 2x. You can retrigger these free spins as well.

Betting options and jackpots

The complete betting range is from $0.01 to $50. With all 20 lines activated, that would mean a line wager of up to $2.50. You can place a bet of up to 5 coins on each line, with denominations being up to $0.50.

The scatter symbols are responsible for the best payouts here, giving you 100 times the bet if you’re lucky. That’s up to $5,000 cash.

Design and symbols

The design might not stand out from the crowd of Egyptian themed slots, but it does pay a lot of attention to the small details, which is rarely the case in this industry. Each symbol has a design with lots of things going on, and this is even the case with the playing cards. I’m not a fan of the huge number of cards that are used though, all the regular icons being of this type, so they tend to take over all the positions on the reels at times.

Symbols: Triple Wild (wild), Double Wild (wild), Treasure Chest (scatter), Game Logo (scatter, 100x bet), Cleopatra (scatter, 80x bet), Horus (scatter, 75x bet), Anubis (scatter, 75x bet), Ace (75x), King (60x), Queen (50x), Jack (40x), 10 (30x) and 9 (25x).

Is It Worth Playing?

The features are impressive enough that I can overlook the very boring theme choice. Its five scatter symbols, the free spins, the two wilds with multipliers, these are all reasons to try the game out.

Ruby Of The Nile can be found at any Microgaming casino, where you get a chance to play it for real money or in free mode.
