Summertime is a game that was designed by Microgaming. It’s a modern slot machine if you look at the layout and the features, but some of its symbols have a clear classic influence, consisting in various types of fruits or things like bars and golden bells. I’m not a huge fan of that part of the game, but the summer theme and the beach connection are a lot of fun.
The classic influence and the small number of paylines go hand in hand in this case, the slot offering 5 reels but only 9 paylines. It has a very good prize though, worth $50,000, plus the wild symbol, the scatter and the free spins with a 3x multiplier.

The features that you have access to in this game include a special wild, one that gives away the top jackpot and also multiplies prizes it helps award. You also have a scatter symbol, with huge 500x prizes offered, with free spins and with multipliers of its own. Overall, I’m quite satisfied with the list of features that were introduced.
To start with, we have the Summertime Logo, which is used as the wild of the game. As all wilds do, this symbol can form combinations with other types of symbols, taking the same role as one of them. For example, you could have one wild and two matching regular symbols, going from left to right. That would form a new combo of three symbols and pay you the amount indicated by the paytable, multiplied by 2x since the wild does that when it substitutes for another symbol. Ideally though, you will find two to five wilds form up on the same active line, forming a combo of their own, and giving you up to 10,000x the line wager as a reward.
Another favorite feature of mine in this game is the scatter symbol. Appearing in random locations on the reels, the Beach scatter symbols can get very rewarding, offering as much as 500 times the bet in prizes. The minimum number of Beach scatters needed to get a prize is two, for which you get 2x the bet.
Free Games Feature
The slot has free spins that you can take advantage of, and they’re pretty great. It’s not just that they’re free, it’s also the fact that they have a 3x multiplier, so all the wins are tripled.

Design and symbols
As I’ve said, the theme is influenced by the classic slot machines, but that’s only when it comes to the regular symbols. They include diamonds, 7s, bells, bars and fruits, but the special feature symbols are beach or sun themed. The summer theme is visible in the background picture, where you have the blue of the sky. Overall, a perfectly decent theme and design, but it’s a slot that belongs squarely in the middle of the pack.

With the exception of the jackpot’s value, the game doesn’t offer you that much. The classic influence in the design and the small number of lines don’t make it a favorite of mine, but if you want a slot with good features and a simpler theme then Summertime might be it.
