Lights Slots

LightsThough you will find this to be a Chinese themed slot machine, Lights is quite different from the usual slots that approach the same topic. It focuses more on Chinese lanterns, none of them made out of paper. It’s a stunning design, in true Net Ent fashion, with high quality symbols and with a gorgeous background picture with mountains and the first light as seen at dawn. The Chinese theme might be extremely popular, a lot of games use it, but nobody has done it quite like this so far.

Lights gets only 9 paylines, despite being a modern 5 reel game. It means a smaller bet for you, but also prizes that are at least average, a maximum of $10,000 being won through its combinations. The free games are part of its charm, though the scatter symbols and wilds also help out quite a bit.

Features of Lights

Lights doesn’t have a huge number of features added to it, but the ones that are present are quite interesting. You have the usual combo of scatters with free spins, plus a feature called floating wilds.

The Floating Wild is a simple symbol, the word “Wild” being all that you see in it. As each spin is done, you will notice swarms of fireflies come in and activate floating wilds on the reels. A minimum of two, with a maximum of four floating wilds, can appear during each spin, at random. The wild is a regular one otherwise, substituting for symbols that can create new combinations this way, but doing nothing about the scatter.

Free Games Feature

A bit more common is the scatter symbol that Lights incorporates, a Yin Yang logo. The number of scattered symbols of this type will determine how many free spins you’re being awarded by the game. The minimum required is three scatters, which will award 10 free games. You get 20 free games if there are four scatters, while five of them will come with 30 spins for free. You can retrigger the free spins, as you’re using the current batch.

For the duration of these free games, you get 3 to 6 floating wilds to appear, at random, during each spin.

Betting options and jackpots

For each payline that the game has, you are free to activate up to 10 coins, taking the maximum bet to 90 coins. There is enough freedom of movement here though, so you can activate only one line instead of nine, or you can use only one or two coins, instead of the maximum of ten. The individual coins range from $0.01 to $1 when it comes to their denomination. The full range of the bets goes from $0.01 to $90.

The big prize of Lights is about 1,000 times what the line bet was during that particular round. You can walk away with $10,000, the equivalent of 10,000 coins.

Design and symbols

The Chinese theme is visible if you pay attention, with the style of the letters in playing cards being inspired by their own writing, with lanterns used in many of the symbols and with the logo area incorporating a pagoda like roof into it. The background I assume is from China, but that kind of gorgeous view of rivers and mountains could be from many places. The title might refer to the lights visible from beyond the mountains, at dawn, or to the lit lanterns that are used as symbols.

Symbols: Wild (wild), Yin Yang Logo (scatter), Red Lantern (1,000x), Orange Lantern (750x), Green Lantern (500x), Blue Lantern (400x), Purple Lantern (300x), Ace (100x), King (75x), Queen (50x), Jack (40x) and Ten (30x).

Is It Worth Playing?

If you’re a fan of the slots that Net Entertainment creates, you should know that you’re getting the same quality from them, as you always do these days. There are few paylines on it though, while bets still get rather high and prizes are only average. Overall, I’d say you will find other titles from them that look better on paper.

This Lights slot is offered by all online casinos with Net Entertainment software, playable either in practice or in real money mode.
