Dolphin Reef Slots

Dolphin-ReefDolphin Reef is your typical underwater themed slot machine, but unfortunately it’s not as beautiful and exciting as many other games have managed to be while sporting this kind of look. It seems to be one of the older Playtech slot machines, with a number of decent looking sea creatures among its symbols, but also with more than its fair share of playing cards that have no connection and no theme. The marine theme is a popular one, and it can do wonders for a game when it’s well done, but this is not the case with Dolphin Reef.

Give Dolphin Reef a chance and you will have to place your wagers on up to 20 bet lines, all arranged on 5 reels. As features, the slot relies on the wild symbol, a scatter and on free spins. Payouts reach values of up to $250,000, but you should expect to pay accordingly to get that much from it.

Features of Dolphin Reef

The game gives you the usual scatter symbol and a wild, but the free spins get triggered by the latter feature, an unusual choice, but not an unprecedented one.

Out of the two main symbols, the scatter is the one that gets fewer things to do, simply giving away prizes and that’s about it. Represented by the Treasure Chest image, this symbol makes appearances wherever it pleases, while still managing to give away a prize of up to 100x the bet, the starting point being at only 3x.

The Dolphin wild symbol is reserved only for the 2nd and 4th reels. It does its job when it’s visible on the screen, so you have your extra chance of creating a new combo, but it’s also the one that will get you the bonus feature.

Free Games Feature

When the wild symbol is present on both reels it is allowed on, a bonus feature starts up, where you get 5 spins for free. These free games come with their own expanded wilds, symbols that will occupy the 2nd and 4th reels completely, while the other reels will spin. There is a good chance that you will walk away a happy man thanks to them, as they give you much improved odds of creating new combinations.

Betting options and jackpots

A line wager will go anywhere between $0.01 and $50, so you have enough of a range in this game to play, no matter what your budget is. The bets use 1 to 10 coins for each bet line, while denominations vary between $0.01 and $5. When all the paylines are selected, you get to a total wager of $1,000, and that’s for a single spin.

The prizes tend to be very good though, as much as $250,000 being taken home by the luckiest players. It’s the equivalent of 5,000x the line wager, so the more you bet, the more you take home.

Design and symbols

Dolphin Reef goes through all the usual steps, adding the creatures you would expect to the reel’s symbols and with a quality that is at least decent. They don’t seem to be any different from most of the marine creatures you see in slot machines these days. A few years ago this would’ve been a decent choice graphics wise, but right now you can find quite a few other slots that are much better looking, even while showing you the same creatures of the sea.

Symbols: Dolphin (wild), Treasure Chest (scatter, 100x triggering wager), Clown Fish (5,000x), Sea Turtle (1,000x), Starfish (500x), Seahorse (500x), Ace (250x), King (250x), Queen (150x), Jack (150x), 10 (100x) and 9 (100x).

Is It Worth Playing?

The graphics might not look like much, but the game can be quite profitable, provided that you have a bit of luck on your side. It has the usual features, not much out of the ordinary there, and overall I’d suggest you go for another slot machine, there are way too many alternatives out there that do better in every area.

Dolphin Reef can be found at any Playtech casino, where you get a chance to play it for real money or in free mode.
