Crystal Waters Slots

Crystal-Waters-slotA game like Crystal Waters is all about the view, as this RTG slot has as a theme the underwater ocean life. It’s a bit of a tropical mix really, with the sailboats, ocean surface and forest lined beaches visible at the top, while the reel area and its sides are underwater and filled with beautiful coral and plant life. On the reels, the action revolves mostly around various types of fish and other creatures of the sea.

One of the first things you will notice about this game is the way it is organized, with 5 reels offering a total of 20 paylines and with a random jackpot advertised at the top. Once you get inside, you also find out about its major features, like the substitute symbol (wild), the free games, the multipliers and scatters. If you’re more interested in what the game will pay you, you can expect prizes worth up to $20,000 in the regular game.

Features of Crystal Waters

Dolphins, those intelligent creatures of the sea, are very important to this game. As they appear on one of the two reels they are allowed on (2nd and 4th), the Dolphin wild symbols will substitute for all the other symbols, with one exception (scatter Yacht). Even better, if you notice a Dolphin wild contributing to a combo, you know that it will double the payout for it.

The Yacht symbol, which looks more like a sailboat than a real luxury ship, will offer you both prizes and access to the free spins. On the cash side of things, the Yacht offers prizes that start at 3x and go up to 200x the value of the round wager. This is a scatter feature, so it gives away its prizes by being present and nothing else.

Free Games Feature

The same 3+ Yacht symbols that will get you paid, will also start up the free games feature of the slot. You are awarded with 15 free spins when this happens, meaning you get to spin those reels at least 15 times without paying. It can be retriggered though, so it can end up being 30, 45 or more free games.

The Bonus Fish is a symbol that only appears for the duration of the free games, and only on the 3rd reel. It acts as a wild symbol, on a reel that doesn’t get a wild during the base game. Just like the Dolphin wild, the Bonus Fish has a multiplier that can be applied to a winning combo. You get the benefit of the other wilds as well if they contribute, so the multiplier can go as high as 8x eventually.

Betting options and jackpots

It’s easy enough to get started with a wager in this game. The lines are all selected by default, but you get the option to change the number if you want to. Keep in mind though, that will considerably reduce your chances of getting a winning combo. The other option, the only one you really need to use, is the Bet with its arrows pointing Up and Down. It will let you take the bet from $0.20 to $100, with the maximum value using $5 coins.

The maximum amount you can win here depends on a couple of things. First of all, you need a combo of turtles in order to get the best prize. Second, a dolphin needs to be one of the five symbols in that combo, in order to double its value. That’s how you get 4,000 coins from this game, or up to $20,000. As for the second prize, the random jackpot, it’s not influenced by events in the game, so put it out of your mind since you can’t do anything about it.

Design and symbols

The design is one of the strengths of this title. The ocean theme seems to work well in the majority of the slot machines that use it. I’ve rarely seen a game that manages to screw it up and deliver an ugly game. It’s clearly not the case here, with the graphics being perfectly adequate for the purpose they’re used for. You get the ocean color where it is appropriate, you get pristine tropical beaches, sailboats, all sorts of marine creatures and playing cards that look distorted like they were affected by the waves.

Symbols: Dolphin (wild), Yacht (scatter, 200x the bet), Turtle (2,000x), School of fish (1250x), Sea Horse (1,000x), Shell (1,000x), Ace or King (250x), Queen or Jack (200x), Ten or Nine (150x).
