Lucky Tiger Slots

Lucky-TigerA beautiful slot machine from RTG, Lucky Tiger takes the old choice of the Chinese inspired theme and goes beyond it. They’ve tried to make it as Chinese and as lucky as possible, so you will find the number 8 everywhere plus a lot of different symbols inspired by their culture. I’d say they succeeded at making a memorable game out of this slot, mainly because of how good it looks, but also because of its many features.

One of the things that make this slot special is its use of 88 paylines that were placed on the 5 reels. I believe that makes it unique, or at least I don’t remember seeing games with 88 lines before. The game features will offer you both bonus rounds with free games and special symbols that consist in wilds and scatters. A couple of different jackpots are offered inside, with two being progressives and one being from the game and worth up to $5,888.

Features of Lucky Tiger

Lucky Tiger doesn’t do great only with its graphics and the number of prizes offered, but also with the features made available. Through the same symbol with scatter abilities, you will find that three different bonus games are placed inside.

The wild symbol is present, but a bit useless when compared with its powers in other games. First of all, it can appear on two out of five reels, the first and the fifth. From its positions, the wild is capable of replacing other symbols in combinations, the usual exception being the scatter Gong. The wild can offer prizes, but only during two of the three features of the game, when more than two wilds can exist and paying combinations can be formed. Considering that the symbol for the wild is a fierce Golden Tiger, I would’ve expected a lot more from this feature.

The Gong is the symbol with the most power in this slot, used as a scatter and at the same time as a trigger for the three feature rounds available. Either four or five Gong scatters are needed for payouts to be awarded, with 18x the bet for the former and 188x for the latter number.

The same scatter symbol that has the gold Gong on it is the trigger for the game’s features. A minimum of three scatters during the same spin are needed. When this happens, you have to click on a Gong and you will find out which one of the three features you’ve won. Each one is described below.

“Lucky Tiger” Feature

This is the simplest feature you can get out of the scatter symbol, awarding you 8 free spins with a 3x multiplier. Getting 1 to 5 scatter symbols in these free spins will get you an additional 1 to 25 free games.

“Gong” Feature

This bonus game will also consist of free spins, only here you get either 8 or 18 of them. You don’t get a multiplier this time, but the Gong scatter symbol acts as a wild, and makes it possible for you to win the top jackpot worth 5,888 coins. You can retrigger this feature with an extra 5 spins as long as you have the 3+ scatter symbols.

“Fortune” Feature

The third and final feature from Lucky Tiger is called Fortune. You get 8 free spins in it, with the big advantage being its multiplier which matches the spin number. What that means is that you will have a 1x multiplier for the first spin, 2x for the second and so on, until the eight spin which gets the 8x multiplier. Both the Garden and the Gong symbols are used as additional wilds and they turn into Golden Tigers once the prizes are awarded. Once again, you get a chance at the top jackpot of the game, the 5,888 coins that I mentioned before.

The Fortune feature can also be retriggered, with the player getting an extra 5 spins if he meets the conditions. The extra free spins all have the 8x multiplier.

By far, this is the best of the three features offered by the scatter symbol.

Betting options and jackpots

The slot’s 88 lines require a serious investment in coins, but luckily their individual value doesn’t amount to much. Coin denominations go only up to $1, so the maximum bet is at $88.

Even the top jackpot uses the number 8 as many times as possible, so you get 5,888 coins if you get the right combination of symbols. It’s a bit difficult to get that amount though, as only two of the three feature symbols allow for the wild to be present on all the reels. Otherwise, you can win up to $2,888 in the base game.

The two random progressive jackpots are called Minor and Major. Major Jackpot can potentially pay just as well as the game does, but Minor only gives you a few hundred dollars.

Design and symbols

The graphics make this game a must play title if you enjoy Chinese themed titles. It’s considerably better than many of its competitors that have the same theme. A big part of that is thanks to the beautiful image located in the background, showing a park with a pond, trees with red leaves and benches. The symbols are just as good, each one with an impressive amount of detail in it.

Symbols: Golden Tiger (wild, 5,888x), Gong (scatter, 188x the bet), Garden (2,888x), Chinese Logo (1,888x), Fish (1,888x), Lotus Flower (888x), Gold Jewelry (888x), Hand Fan (588x), Sail Ship (588x), Ace Lampion (388x), King Lampion (388x), Queen Lampion (288x), Jack Lampion (288x), 8 Lampion (288x).
