Eastern Dragon Slots

Eastern-DragonEastern Dragon is your standard Chinese themed game, mixing inside a bunch of objects that are known as typical for them, like firecrackers, paper lanterns or the coins with square holes in the middle. Designed by Wager Gaming, I’d say this slot fails to truly stand out, being one of the many similar Asian themed games already out there. While it does OK in a number of areas, like the features or payouts, it doesn’t end up as a top contender.

As many of the games with 5 reels that Wager Gaming creates, this one also has 20 lines. On them you will discover features which include free games, multipliers, wilds and the usual scatter symbols. As for the biggest payouts advertised, they can go as high as $60,000.

Features of Eastern Dragon

The scatter symbol is present, and it only gives out cash prizes, nothing more. The free spins and their multipliers are triggered with the wild’s help.

In one of the main roles we find the Dragon, a Chinese style representation of it being used as the wild symbol in Eastern Dragon. It is used only on the reels 1 and 5, and in order to trigger free spins you need both of them to be present. The rest of the time, you will find that they try to substitute for other symbols, as long as their position is on a payline that allows them to do something about it. Even though you get only two wilds, so they don’t help out as often as they would in other games, at least they have a x2 multiplier, so they double the prizes they do contribute to.

The second major feature symbol is the scatter, using here the image of a Chinese Coin. The only thing you’re going to get from it is a prize, the amount being decided by the number of scattered Coins you have on the five reels. A minimum of two are needed, which will get you just the value of the bet back, but with more of them you get increasingly better payouts. They go to 5x for three Coins, to 20x for four and to 200x the wager for all five.

Free Games Feature

Whenever the wild symbol is present with one symbol on both reels where it can appear (1st and 5th), you get the round of 15 free spins to start, where all the prizes are tripled. You can retrigger the feature with the same two wilds appearing on the first and last reels.

Betting options and jackpots

A 20 line game designed by Wager Gaming will typically require 20 coins total, or one coin for each line. The denomination is standard in most games they design, ranging from $0.01 to $10, while the total reaches $200.

The 6,000 coins that are offered through the slot’s best combo translate into a cash value of up to $60,000, as long as the wild’s multiplier was involved as well. Otherwise, it goes up to $30,000 only.

Design and symbols

Like I said above, the theme’s design isn’t that great, not when you compare it with every other Chinese themed game out there. It’s a very common look for these slots and it’s not that interesting to begin with. There is an interesting contrast between the all white reels and the red and black background image, but that’s not enough to save the game and make it fun to look at.

Symbols: Dragon (wild, 2 coins), Chinese Coin (200x the bet, scatter), Fish (3,000 coins), Paper Lantern (1,000 coins), Lotus (500 coins), Firecrackers (500 coins), Ace (300 coins), King (300 coins), Queen (200 coins), Jack (200 coins), 10 (100 coins) and 9 (100 coins).

Is It Worth Playing?

To be honest, not really. Its design is dated and average at best, while its features and payouts are good but they don’t stand out from the collection of Wager Gaming slots that offer pretty much the same thing. There are better looking titles of theirs on the market, so this one isn’t really worth pursuing.

The Eastern Dragon slot machine is offered through the Wager Gaming platform, so if you want to play it for real or just to practice, look out for casinos that use it.
