Funny Money Slots

Funny-MoneyFunny Money is one of the slot machines from Wager Gaming and it’s themed around a mafia inspired story, which is why it’s funny money that is at the center of it. These words usually mean that you’re dealing with counterfeit money, which is something that I haven’t seen in slot machines before, though the mafia served as inspiration plenty of times. The symbols are all normal for such a game, from mafia dons, to policemen, money, guns and old cars.

The game’s title doesn’t translate into a decent top payout, the prize being worth only $16,000 in Funny Money. There are bonus games, scatter symbols, free spins that have multipliers and wilds, so the features are very well represented in it. This Wager Gaming title gets 25 lines on 5 reels.

Features of Funny Money

With scatter symbols and wilds, free spins and multipliers, plus a bonus game, you get pretty much every major feature you can think of. This is definitely one of the pluses that Funny Money has in its favor.

The Boss gets to act as a wild symbol, so whenever it makes an appearance there is a chance that it will substitute for a symbol and will assist with the creation of a new combo. The Boss wild appears on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th reels only, so it doesn’t do as much good in this game as it does in others while doing its main job. It doesn’t give away prizes directly, but it does trigger a bonus game, which you can read about below.

The second symbol capable of helping out with its attached feature would be the scatter, represented here by the Club Door. Since this symbol doesn’t form regular combinations, instead taking all the symbols of this type that are present in scattered positions on the reels, it is called a scatter symbol and it can be quite useful. In this game, as in many others, the role of the scatter symbol is twofold. First of all, you get free spins out of it. Second, you get the cash prizes that vary between 2x and 100x what the wager of the round was.

Free Games Feature

You will need 3+ Club scatters on the reels, but if you do manage that you can expect a total of 10 spins to start. It doesn’t stop there though. Each triggering scatter reveals a different number, and when you add them all you get the multiplier that will apply to all prizes obtained during the free spins. You can even trigger these spins again, and the multiplier will stay the same.

Boss Man Feature

The wild symbol gets a second role in this game, one that is not that common for it. It triggers the bonus game, whenever the middle three reels each have one wild on them. During this feature you get a screen with nine loot piles, out of which you pick four. A prize is obtained from each selection, as a multiple of the total wager.

Betting options and jackpots

While it uses 25 lines, the game doesn’t have wager requirements as high as in other slots from this developer. Each coin that you use activates a different bet line, while the denomination is between $0.01 and $2. The largest bet is worth $50.

Get five symbols of the right kind, with the image of the Redhead Girl on all of them, and you win 8,000 coins, or $16,000.

Design and symbols

The design feels like a good fit for the mafia theme chosen for the game. The background is an image of a red wall with bullet holes in it, quite simple and without too many decorations. On the reels you get the same mafia themed pictures, so all the symbols were chosen for their connection to the topic. I enjoyed that, as Wager Gaming often chooses to use basic playing cards for some of their symbols, and it always seems like a lazy choice.

Symbols: Boss (wild), Club Door (scatter, 100x the bet), Redhead Girl (8,000 coins), Policeman (1,000 coins), Car (500 coins), Tax Money Bag (500 coins), Safe (200 coins), Moonshine (200 coins), Tommy Gun (125 coins), Cash (125 coins), Food (100 coins) and Newspaper (100 coins).

Is It Worth Playing?

You might not get a theme that is innovative or a lot of fun, but the feature list is full of interesting symbols and bonus games. It’s not as expensive as other 25 line games from Wager Gaming, but its top payout is not worth as much either.

The Funny Money slot machine is offered through the Wager Gaming platform, so if you want to play it for real or just to practice, look out for casinos that use it.
