Mah Jong Madness Slots

Mah-Jong-MadnessMah Jong Madness is a slot machine that is built around the famous Chinese game called Mahjong, which is quite popular worldwide these days, especially since people started playing it on modern PCs as well. In the real world, the game can be played by a maximum of four people and it uses a total of 144 tiles which have on them symbols and Chinese characters. Mah Jong Madness uses a couple of those characters and symbols. This game was designed by Wager Gaming.

On the 5 reels of this Mahjong inspired slot machine, you can place wagers on a maximum of 21 paylines. There are no features inside that you can take advantage of, only prizes that go as high as $25,000.

Features of Mah Jong Madness

Mah Jong Madness is a bit of an anomaly, even among the slot machines that Wager Gaming has created so far. It has 5 reels, so it’s a modern title, and it has 21 lines, which would make it a sure candidate for a couple of features, but it doesn’t offer anything like that. The few games that have no features but come with 5 reels will usually offer a very low number of paylines, but it’s not the case here. The game is not quite like Mahjong, as it doesn’t work the same way as the original, but it uses its symbols to create combinations like any regular slot machine. Since the gameplay is not influenced by it in any way, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it, not even to a hardcore fan of Mahjong.

Betting options and jackpots

You can place a bet of a maximum of 21 coins, each one worth $10 or less (the minimum being $0.01). The bets don’t go higher than $210, but that’s enough to put it in high roller territory anyway.

The top prize isn’t necessarily as attractive though, worth only $25,000. There are both pros and cons to the lack of features, as they normally would allow the top jackpot to go higher, but that doesn’t happen here. Instead, you get only 7 symbols, while other slots would offer 11 or 12, so the odds of you getting a winning combo are higher than normal.

Design and symbols

With a yellow/orange background image and with white reels, the design doesn’t seem to offer the player that much. The symbols take the form of tiles that would be used in Mahjong, with Chinese characters among them which you probably don’t know what they mean. It’s not a bad looking game, so you’re not going to run away screaming from it, but it’s not terribly attractive either.

The symbols used in this game are based on the tiles that Mahjong uses, and you will recognize them as soon as you see them. The best paying one offers 2,500 coins for five symbols in a combo. Three of them give you prizes for 2+ symbols, while the other four need 3+.

Is It Worth Playing?

If you enjoy Mahjong, you might have fun with this slot as well, but it’s not a guarantee. There are no bonus games themed around the original game, just symbols that look like the original tiles, and I’m not sure that’s enough to keep you playing in the long run.

This Mah Jong Madness slot is offered by all online casinos with Wager Gaming software, playable either in practice or in real money mode.
