Chieftains Slots

ChieftainsChieftains is a game which comes from WMS and which approaches one of the themes that is used fairly often by the slot industry. This game’s design is inspired by the Inca people and their accomplishments, featuring large temples, golden objects and idols, jungle animals and fruits. A lot of games are already out there with identical themes or similar ones, based on other South American civilizations, so the game should be flawless in order to have a chance of competing with the others.

You get 30 bet lines on the 5 reels of Chieftains. You also get random symbols, free games, multipliers and scatters which also act as wilds. The best prize you can hope for is valued at $5,000.

Features of Chieftains

The slot relies on two wild symbols which are also scatters, on a random feature and on free spins with 2x multipliers.

The Chieftains mentioned in the title are found in the two wild symbols of the game. You have the Blue Chieftain and the Red Chieftain. They can create combinations on paylines, with two or more Chieftains on them. If the combinations have only one type of wild in them, they pay up to 1,000x. If it’s a mixed combo, with both wilds participating, the payout is up to 500x. As wilds, they can replace any other icon in the game, no exceptions.

Free Games Feature

When they appear in scattered positions on the reels, you need only two mixed wilds to get the free spins going. You also win prizes, but you need 3+ scattered wilds to get paid. Between 2x and 50x the total bet is won with their help, when they pay as scatters.

Chieftains-free-spins

For 2, 3, 4 or 5 scattered Chieftains, you are offered, 5, 10, 20 or 50 free spins, respectively. The wins benefit from 2x multipliers, the one exception being the top jackpot combo with five matching Chieftains. To retrigger the free spins, you need only two Chieftain scatters.

Random Symbol

Another feature offered comes from the Chieftains Logo, which appears on the 2nd reel and which will turn into a random symbol when it appears there.

Betting options and jackpots

Whatever the number of coins you use (1 to 30), the denomination will be the same for all of them. You choose it, within the range of $0.01 to $5. The game will permit for bets of up to $150 to be made.

If you happen to get the Chieftains to form a combo with wilds of the same type, you get 1,000 coins out of it, or up to $5,000. A mixed combo of wilds pays $2,500.

Design and symbols

The design used by the game is a pretty normal one for a theme inspired by the Inca civilization. You have two of their temples in the background, tall buildings with abrupt stairs leading up to the entrance. The reels are surrounded by a simple golden border, the symbols being images that are either Inca in origin, or they’re insects, animals and fruits from the region where they were based.

Is It Worth Playing?

I didn’t find the game convincing enough to give it more than a few spins, especially since the prizes are quite low at 1,000x the line bet.

This Chieftains slot is offered by all online casinos with WMS software, playable either in practice or in real money mode.
