Griffin’s Gate Slots

Griffin's-GateThe action in Griffin’s Gate seems to revolve around some kind of Anime style kingdom, a place where griffins are present and a big part of the action. A griffin is a creature which is part lion (the body), part eagle (head and wings). Obviously, it’s a mythical creature, not one that you’re likely to see for real, but it can be an impressive sight even in an anime style game like this one. The game comes from WMS.

5 reels are part of Griffin’s Gate, while on them there are as many as 50 paylines. Features include the free games, the scatters, respins, wilds and the Door feature. You can win up to $1,000.

Features of Griffin’s Gate

The slot’s features will give you wilds, randomly triggered symbols and scatters. They can also result in free spins and Hot Hot respins.

The only wild symbol which Griffin’s Gate has for you is the one with the logo of the game. Appearing on reels going from 2nd to 5th, it’s not going to be present on the first one, so no wins are offered directly by it. However, it can be quite valuable as a wild, as a substitute for the symbols which are needed to form other combinations. The Griffon scatter can’t be replaced with a wild unfortunately.

Door Feature

Once in a while, you will get a Door symbol appear in the game. When this happens, the door will open to reveal a random symbol. It can’t be a scatter or a wild though, only a regular icon.

Free Games Feature

As is often the case, the way to get the free spins is to have enough scatter symbols present during the same round. In this case, the scatter is the one with the Griffin on it. Appearing on three reels (1, 2 and 3), you need the symbol to be present on all of them in order for the 10 free spins to be awarded.

The free spins get additional Door and Logo wild symbols on their reels. You can also retrigger the free spins, or get the Respin feature to start.

Hot Hot Respin Feature

This is a pretty cool feature to get, either in the base game or during the free spins. You need the 1st reel filled completely with the same Gate symbols. These icons stay there for the remaining respins. Additional Gates and wilds that appear along the way are also locked in place until the feature ends. The Gates will all reveal the same symbol, at the end of the respins.

Betting options and jackpots

Like a number of other games from WMS, this one also needs fewer coins than there are lines in the game. The 50 lines actually need only 25 coins, but then there is a feature bet to consider as well, which asks for another 15 coins. The total is 40 coins, with individual values of up to $5, or $200 total.

Design and symbols

The game comes with an Anime style design which is visible in the way the main characters are made, but also in the various objects which appear in the symbols. They look like they belong to miniature people, especially visible when you look at the weapon icons. It’s an attractive game, and quite well themed and thought out.

Is It Worth Playing?

The game is unusual in plenty of ways, but none of them are unpleasant. It has a design that is certainly different, and it’s good enough to make playing it a pleasant experience.

The Griffin’s Gate slot machine is offered through the WMS platform, so if you want to play it for real or just to practice, look out for casinos that use it.
